Good idea, if I went with the plastic I would try it that way to soften.
Thanks

Default Anywone Without This Problem?

I'm curious if all the vert owners reading this thread have this problem or only the few that have posted? I seem to recall an early post indicating no problem. I have not actually been able to pick up my new 06 vert, but did put the dealer on notice of this issue. He was to check mine out and get back to me. As the car is new, I doubt he will find anything. Kind of a bummer to think I'll get my first vert and then have to deal with this nonsense! Dan

Man I guess ignorance is bliss! I checked the headliner on my power top and sure enough there is a hole on one side and wear on the other. This sucks. Time to get out the sandpaper.

I checked mine today after reading this thread - 05 built in May 2005 and I don't have the damage. My edges aren't perfectly smooth but they aren't rough either. I put my top up and down pretty much every day, up when I get to work and down when I head home. I guess I got a lucky car from that perspective.

Both my Dad and I have '07 convertibles and we are both experiencing wear. There aren't any holes yet, but you can see where it is wearing.

Default Poll?

Somebody who knows how to do a poll should do one to find out how many vert owners have wear on their liners. Thoughts? Dan

You need to look at the side rails. I don't know what these are called, but they are above the driver and passenger side doors. The metal on mine are extremely rough. I believe this rubs on the liner and causes it to wear. I am trying to find something to put over that such as rubber tubing or some such thing.
I am thinking about sanding mine smooth. I am 6'3" and bald, everytime I hit my head on the rail,my head ends up bleeding. I hate it when I have to drive with the top up. I am also finding excessive wear on the top - both inside and out.

Man that scraping of the head would get old real fast I'm sure that would help your head, suppose you would want to paint it afterwards. The part of the rail that causes the headliner damage is just the upper narrow edge of that rail on the back corner. Not sure if you saw my pics in this thread.

Yes ignorance is bliss, who would even think to look up there ? Sorry you have a hole, that sucks so what year do you have, and how many miles, power or manual ?

That's cool you don't have wear or a hole. I would like to see a Vert without this problem so I can compare. I wonder if the headliner just isn't touching the rear corner, or if the rail is smoother ?
Hey Ed, since I'm in Sac too, maybe we could meet and see each others cars ?

Thanks Dan, I haven't done a poll yet, but have been thinking of doing one for this.
How does this sound ?

05 no wear marks
05 wear marks or hole
05 headliner replaced
05 headliner replaced and continued problem

06 no wear marks
06 wear marks or hole
06 headliner replaced
06 headliner replaced and continued problem

07 no wear marks
07 wear marks or hole
07 headliner replaced
07 headliner replaced and continued problem

I'll post this poll if it's looks OK to you guys, open to suggestions too.
Can there be 12 choices ?

Thanks, Greg

OK, looks like you can have 300 poll options not needed on this poll, maybe some other day

ARghh...Self flagellation..should have waited a couple more days before jumping back on the Forum.

.. I just bought a 05 DSOM Z51 Verte w/9KSaturday from the Simi Valley in LA (yes..I am going to take a "black light" to everything at night looking for questionable "stains" ..and I am looking out for vert problems. Thanks SO MUCH to all you guys pointing out these problems for "verte" newbies like myself. First drive to work tommorrow.. and I will be hunting these pesky potential problems...

Got a quick question along similiar lines?

Any way to identify if the top is not original, since this seems to be a rather numerous complaint with significant member dealer fixes? The one panel (waterfall?) seems to be a slightly different hue then the rest of the car?

If you can have 300, but only need 12, why not do it? I think it would be interesting. Although some might not want to take time to write a post on the issue, I'll bet they'd take the time to "click" for a poll. Dan
