Anybody using WCC mirror mounted detector holder?. If so, How do you like it? Are there any others available? I'm tired of the suction cup windshield mount. Thanks to all.
Location: Life ain't no dress rehearsal, are you gonna wait to get your toys til AFTER you have a heart attack?
I am using the Great Lakes Trophy visor mount modified so that my Beltronics detector will fit. I have it mounted on the left side of the mirror with a 12" Invisicord. I lke it fine.
Well, I finally mounted my Escort with WCC mirror mount. I had Circuit City run the power cord down the passenger pillar to the fuses under the pasenger floorboard. He tied it into the heated seats circuit. I adjusted the mount so that the Escort would be level when mounted, peeled the tape off and stuck it to the mirror. For me, the install was easy and in the perfect location.
Just my 2 cents,
Jeff

Just wondering why you elected to go through all of that wiring instead of simply connecting it to the mirror connector power.
I guess I just figured "better safe than sorry". I didn't want to mess up anything with the mirror electronics (On Star, compass, auto dimming, etc.) and CC only charged $32.00 to run a separate wire.
Bottom line is that it was my comfort level (and I was not aware of the above Invisacord until now)
Looks like Invisicord would have been the way to go for sure.

Had the mirror mount on my C5. Didn't like it because it blocked line of sight IMO. Went to the Vette Mods bracket - thought it was a great product and put the detector in the right place. Liked it so much I bought another when I got my C6.
I too had the great lakes and I didn't really care for the detector being so close to my face and its general obstruction of the view out the window. It was difficult to refocuse my eyes between the distance of the road and the detector when making my regular scans of the cockpit.
Now Offering:
****C5/C6 Powdercoated Calipers****LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6 and LS7 Powdercoated Intake Manifolds**
**LS3 Powdercoated Intake Manfold Covers****Fuel Rail Covers****Other custom work on request**** -COLOR matching of ALL C5/C6 colors and custom colors too!!!
-Exchange for C5/C6 Calipers, LS2 Intakes and LS3 Intake Covers
The original brackett didn't hold in the heat. Great Lakes changed the adhesive. I haven't heard of a problem since.
Also...it's important to make sure the back of the mirror is cleaned as directed with alcohol. The better you clean it, the better it's going to stick.

I just installed the Great Lakes visor mount on left/drivers side. I purchased the V1 and once installed I found it to be an ideal location. Even if I could mount it on the right/passenger side (I have XM) I don't know that I would. I like the display being a little closer to my line-of-sight. I also purchased the 16" Invisicord. A little extra slack but it all tucks up nicely.
Great lakes, Valentine and Invisicord all shipped sooooooo fast. Thumbs up to all of them!
