Just under the mirror, it works great.

Did a mirror mount for my V1. Perfect for me.

Easy to see and reach and looks good.

That's what I thought, and that's the benefit of the 8500. Strong fire control radar, X band, will blank out the much weaker POP in Ka. Even as the Ka increases, the X band will blank out the increasing strength of the cop closing on you. Once you get the full blast--after he puts his jelly doughnut down and fires the unit, you're toast. With both signals tracking in multipath and the increasing Ka signal, you know you're closing on the bogie irrespective of the strong X signal. May not be a problem away from military airways, but definitely is around COS.

I just put a k40 in my car and love it, there is only 2 lights that I mounted on each side of the display panel and it works awesome.

I think you may have misunderstood. While the strength meter may only show one, the unit will track all radar. If you are in Logic mode, it will filter X band and show the most vital threat on the meter. If Ka Pop is sensed, it has priority. If the X Band gets strong enough, it will have priority. It always displays all threats on all bands ar(and how many total threats there are), the one that shows on the meter is the one you need to be concerned about. If X Band is the ONLY band present in this mode, it will show on the meter, but it will not go off until it's strong enough to be an immediate threat. I guess it's just one of the things you have to get accustomed to in order to know how it works.

I know POP is something that V1 didn't worry about until just recently. Unfortunately, I'll admit, they my be some what behind the times when it comes to that mode. All in all though, I have used other radar dectectors in the past, and I will continue to rely on a V1 and it's directional arrows over anything else I've used.

It's all personal preference. Back to the topic at hand.....

Default Standard mount with invisicord

I mounted mine just behind the mirror with the standard x50 mount and invisicord. Not in the way, I see it easily, easy to push the silencer, and turns on and off with the ignition

I prefer to put mine in the center under the mirror but the crapy suction cup mounts on my Escort keep falling off. I hate having to catch my detector while I'm driving.

I bought one of the hard mounts from one of the forum vendors (sorry don't remember who) that mounts it in front of the passenger visor. It is working out ok but it is not in my line of sight. I tell my wife she is the Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO) and to watch for bandits . I was concerned it would block her view but I recently rode shotgun and it does not interfere with the passenger's view. I do like the solid mount a lot.
