V1 mounting, visor or mirror?
Valentine V1 users, where did you mount your unit, from the mirror or from the visor clip? I am looking at getting a visor or mirror mount, and was curious:
A) Which would be less visible from outside?
B) Which would be more stable, vibrate less?
C) Is one or the other a better (functionality wise) than the other?
Do you have any pics of where yours is mounted?
Thanks, Shawn

I just got a Val1 and was thinking the same thing as you. I have heard that the mirror mounts do vibrate some. Some tolerate it and others don't. I will be interested also in what others have to say about this.

The above picture is the older V1. The one I just received is thinner. Also I didn't have the tape in the picture. It does sit high enough that it isn't too noticeable.

I got my new Val1 mounted on the mirror with the Great Lakes Trophy mirror mount and hooked up via the Invisicord to the rear mirror plug. I mounted the Val1 top very close to the bottom of the mirror and
to eliminate any vibrations (better word to describe it than shaking) this is what I did:
1. Put a small piece of the soft side velco on top of the Val1 and placed it just underneath the Val1 mount to eliminate mounting shaking.
2. Put a very tiny piece of 3M double sided tape just above the Val1
front (acutally rearward) detector window and pressed it to the bottom of the mirror.
The Val1 no longer vibrates though the mirror when hitting a bump just slightly virbrates...which it does anyways even without the Val1 underneath it. One thing to make sure if your doing this type of
mount to to BE EXTRA CAREFUL not to twist the mirror too much during mounting the mount or invisivcord. This is because if the p**s poor design of the C6 mirror cam lock mounting. The swivel is super stiff and the cam lock system of the mirror is very flimsy. You can see more about this issue in my thread "How to Fix your C6 Wiggling Rear View Mirror".
Having said all this, I like the Val1 mirror mounted as a) its more hidden than the visor mount and b) you can still retain full use of your sun visor.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Used the visor mount. Much vibration. Will place rubber bumper between mount to stop vibration. Used remote display behind steering wheel. Very easy to use and who cares if LEO sees? It is legal in Texas and I have a Vert so I cant hide it anyway. Went with the location that gave me the best field of view. I am 6'3 so a mirror mount would block my view to much(I think, havent tried one).

The visor mount gets my vote - I used the Great Lakes visor mount on the drivers side visor, a 10" or so Invisicord and am 100% satisfied with the stability (I bent the frame a but for a snugger fit) and the fact that it is very hard to see unless you are of course looking for it. This unit saved me at least 4 times this season

I tried the GL visor mount and went back to the Valentine suction cups. Steadier, straighter, less visible unless standing in front of the car and then they both stick out like a sore thumb.

I went with the visor mount.
Works great.
It’s been on there for almost a year without a problem.
I’m not a fan of suction cup mounts.
If you live in a climate with big temperature swings they tend to detach from the window at the most inopportune times.
More them once I’ve come out to my car after work and found the detector hanging from the cord.
Ever since then I’ve hard-wired and hard-mounted it in place in my last couple of cars.
The visor mount works great in the vette.
It’s very well concealed from the outside of the car.

I like mine on the mirror. Best line-of-sight for detection front and rear, easy to see but does not block my vision, and I don't have any problem with vibration that some others mention (I have the On-Star mirror).

I Havent Had Time Or The Will To Try And Do A Concealed Install On My V1, If So I Would Probably Do A Mount Under The Mirror, However, I Currently Keep It Suctioned In The Middle Bottom Of My Windshield So That I Have As Little Cord In My Vision And I Used The Flat Limp Cord And Tucked It Under/and Plugged Under The Arm Rest.

Mine is on the drivers side visor.
