They brought the numbers back into spec and sent me back to the tire store.
Back to the Goodyear….
The manager submitted the claim to GY home office and said they’d get back to me in two days with a decision.
They argued that tire cupping was more of a “driving annoyance” and wasn’t really covered by the warranty.
Retail on the Supercar fronts is 465 each and their first offer was to replace the tires for 167 EACH based on 2/32 of wear and 7K miles.
I objected to that offer and told them to do better.
They called back today and offered 92 dollars each installed & balanced.
I took that offer and they ordered the two front tires.
I guess that’s a fair resolution since I did get about a years worth of mileage out of them.
Did I do good?

I would go for the replacements, good deal. I was thinking shock absorbers too, and what can make shocks go bad ? wheels that are out of balance I'm not saying the shocks are bad, but if the alignment is pretty close and you're getting a vibration, most people would get the balance checked first, I don't know if you have already.
Good luck

Cupping/Scallop Wear
Probable Causes
- loose wheel bearings
- mismounted tire/ wheel assembly
- out of balance wheel assembly
- tread design/ tire design
- worn bearings, shocks, springs or other suspension components
Cupping can be caused by an unbalanced tire condition, faulty wheel bearings, loose parts, fatigued springs or weak shock absorbers. Check the condition of the shock by forcefully bouncing the front end of the car several times and releasing it on the down stroke. Failure of the vehicle to settle after two strokes suggests worn shocks or struts.
Since it is a new/low miles car -I would suspect a balance issue or mismount. One of my wheels was mismounted (Left rear) and was discovered when I had them road force balanced and an alignment done - @ 900mi for preventive maintenance.

It can be, but not always. I had two sets of the Goodrich KD (not KDW) runflats on our C5, replaced them both times with almost 50% tread remaining because of cupping on the inside of front tires. Great grip but noise, harshness, and vibration; were off the chart. Alignment and tire pressures were normal, but those tires would cup within 5k miles. Even the Hunter Road Force machine couldn't fix the problem because the tires were no longer round. Vibration was bad enough to give me tendonitis in my arm from trying to hold the steering wheel steady. Finally went to the Firestone SZ50 runflats, problem solved until we finally traded the car.

I've got 8300 miles on my Z51, and fronts measure 7/32 and rears are at 8/32.
Half of those miles are road trips, the other half zippin' around having a good time, in a fairly aggressive manner. Base on that pattern and style of driving, I expect about 20K or so.
