yeah I got it too. I asked about it here on this forum soon after a got the car. I was told to keep cookies in the console. It keeps them or anything else toasty warm. Hey just about right for that warm left over turkey/stuffing sandwich.

There seems to be things out there that may help if you feel it is excessive.

Thermal abs stainless steel tunnel plate made a HUGE difference on mine. Now it is only slightly warmer than the rest of the car, barely noticeable. It used to be HOT!

I have a new 2007 C6 A6 coupe and quite honestly have had no issues with console heat at all. I heard GM added an "acoustic insulation package" for 2007, maybe that has something to do with it. Also, I (thankfully) have the base suspension, maybe its the "Z51 Performance Option" you have that's heating it up .

07' Z51 here, not hot. Barely even warm under the armrest. Must have been a change for the 07's. Find out if this is something that others can do to help the problem.

I'd be willing to bet this is your friend's 1st Corvette, no? These cars are known for "warmer than usual" console (tunnel) heat. It's the nature of the beast.
