P.I.T.A. filling up at the pumps
Why is it that everytime I try to fill up my tank the pump cuts off way before it is full. I was only able to fill it 3/4 of the way because the handle kept shutting off every 5 seconds. Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

Nope! when mine cuts off, its full! if I try to add, it runs over. no more topping off for me. maybe you have some kind of restriction in you filler port.

Some people thought I was and some even answered that I needed to be careful not to overfill... um... thanks... I guess...
It would be nice to know if new cars have this behavior or if they have worked it out for new production. Looks like the 2005 did not have it, then it showed up for 2006, so maybe now the 2007's will get it right.

Yeah...this is really strange...I've never had a problem with my '06 and I've filled-up all over the western U.S. When the pump stops I can probably squeeze another 25 cents worth in but that's about it.

I guess it's because you haven't read these threads yet. I've not ever had any trouble with my C6, we did have a problem with one vapor catcher with my wife's Vibe.

Used to happen to me intermittantly. Now I use the same Chevron station (almost all the time) and the same pump with no problems...

I truly believe that the answer lies with the pump nozzle and the degree of abuse it's been subjected to. Just my 2 cents.

I think it's more of a nozzle thing than a problem with the car. If the person ahead of you overfills their car before you, the nozzle thinks the tank is full because the overfill tube (auto shut off) is full of gas. The only thing you can do is to clear the overfill tube. To do this tip the rear of the nozzle up and put the tip in your tank and drain the overfill tube (small bottom hole just behind the filler tube end).
