Home from NCM with new Vert
Just want to add my voice to the chorus of supporters for the Museum delivery option - absolutely the most fun I've had in a long time, that is until I actually got to drive my new Corvette! Ron Barton was our guide, as a retired worker in the plant he knew almost everyone there and really knew the inner workings of the plant. He took his time with us and gave a great tour. The assembly line folks were all very friendly, often coming off line to thank us - heck, I was there to thank THEM! I got to start a brand new Z06, then my wife got to ride in it during the dyno test. Now that is a unique experience! Ron gave us all the time we wanted to go over the features of our car, and just made the experience a real pleasure.
Drove back through eastern Kentucky and Tennessee - best venue to get those break in miles - lots of speed variety, the car is a blast in the twisting and turning roads. My wife and I will return as soon as posssible to Gatlinburg area (and the tail of the dragon). By the time I got back on the interstate headed to Baton Rouge I was able to crank up the rpm a little higher - made the trip home best I'd ever experienced, AND achieved an amazing overall 28+mpg on the trip - break-in time and going up and down hills included. This is one awesome car!
Bottom line - if you're thinking about the NCM delivery option - do everything possible to make it happen - it is worth every penny and any time it takes!
Now it time to start having a ton of fun with the car........

I just placed my order (including Museum Delivery) yesterday so it's very encouraging to hear your "success" story.
As a first-time Corvette owner, I am also considering making the trek from Florida to take part in the Buyer's Tour. Seeing "my" C6 on the assembly line would be a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity. Anyone comments about the Buyer's Tour? It involves a trip to Bowling Green two or three weeks before I take delivery --- but what the heck.
I just wish that I could bring a video crew with me to document the occasion!
