Default Driving school + Track -- VIDEO

Hello evryone,

I just got back from an event called Corvette Perfomance Training held by Corvette Europe at the Hockenheim track in Germany (where they hold the Formula 1 Grand Prix).
It's a one day event where you get to learn a few things like drifting or how to handle the car in emergency situations plus you get to drive on the famous Hockenheim track.

This was an incredible day and everyone there was wonderful, very available, very knowledgable and always ready to help you and give you great tips. I was happy to be able to see how the C6 reacted in extreme situations and especialy happy to see that it can take a lot!

I went there with my C6 (2 hour drive from where I live), and then we drove in their C6s. They had 12 C6s (a mix of auto and stick, coupes and verts), 4 Z06 and 1 C6-R, but we only got to drive the C6s.
They used the Z06 as pace cars on the track and the C6-R was only on display, they only dove it a little bit so we got to hear it a little.

I shot a few videos, so here it is, if you want to check it out: Hockenheim video

Anyway, I highly recommend anyone to do this, especially if, like me, you have no previous track experience (more info about it at: Corvette Performance Training)

I can't believe I missed another Corvete event there. I live only 7 miles or so from the track. I was also invited to an event there last month from the local Corvette dealer. Why didn't I hear about these things when I was there.

And here I sit in Iraq.

Looked like a good time. The european front plate looks just as bad as ours and aren't ALL export Corvette's Z51's as the base suspension?

Yes, Z51 is standard here, you can have F55 as an option.

Do you have Windows Media Player? Clicking on the link should open Windows Media Player and the video should start after a little buffering.
Does anyone else have an issue when accessing the video?

Sweet. I cannot wait to take the C6 on the track. I would like to see how it handles vs my current ride.

Do they offer the program in the US? How about next year, are there dates for the next classes? The website you provided says that the last class was around 6 October?

I don't know about the US, but I've heard about similar programs that you guys have, but not affiliated with Corvette or GM like this one was. Actually it's not quite GM itself, there is a company in the Netherlands that handle the exclusive import in Europe for luxury GM brands like Corvette, Cadillac and Hummer. This company has offices and dealers all over Europe. So as far as the Corvette brand is concerned, they do in Europe what GM does in the US. It's this company that held the event.

Seems like the last session for this year was on October 2nd. They did it last year, so I asusme that they'll probably do it next year, but you're right no mention of that on their website so far.

The National Corvette Museum Offers High Performance Drivers Events in the US.

http://www.corvettemuseum.com/regist.../infocmp.shtml

Our last event for 2006 is Oct 28-29 in South Carolina.

There are several car clubs that offer HPDEs, and if one wishes to use a schools corvette, there is Spring Mountain near Vages.

Do those courses offer the same course material? or are they more oriented to racing?
