Default One more tip

I really appreciate the detailed photo's and the great write up for this excercise. Thanks for the effort, made it very clear for me. I changed mine a few weeks ago, I choose to leave the car on the ground and it worked out fine.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet or not? One tip, parts stores sell an inexpensive plastic hand pump that attaches directly to the quart oil bottle, it includes a dicharge hose and makes life much easier.

Thanks again

Did you drive the car? You want the fluid warm and that might might help expand the metal a little.

Also, make SURE you can get the fill plug out BEFORE you drain!

Absolutely great posting... thanks for the info. No noise ever, 11K on 07 C-6. What interval do you recommend a change. This car is perfect. No problems since new.

I had the problem in the winter-changed and no more problems until just the other day when I went up an incline of about 20 degrees at slow speed and the sound was back.. Did a figure eight and there was a rubbing sound and then went away. It is not a good deal, but this post has been excellent. Kudos to the author

I just want to be sure I do this right...what exactly needs to be "level" and what on the car can I measure to be sure it's level? The car has a rake to it so I'm dubious about where exactly I need to check to ensure the car is actually level so the fill plug is at the right spot.

I just did the change and it is A LOT quieter now. However, I do notice at time it feels like I am running over something when I do sharp turns and while doing the figure 8. Is this normal with the new fluid?

anyone actually run the car in 2nd gear at 10 mph for a minute during the fluid change ? seems kind of unsafe to me, just wondering how many of you actually did this step ?

Which is the better product to use now since the test of time has gone by. Amsoil? or the GM fluid? I'm not sure if Amsoil has friction modifier still in it automatically as GM states no friction modifier is needed with their LS fluid.
When is a good time to change the rear diff fluid? (I don't have any chatter or problems with rear diff-this would just be maintenance).
Size of the allen wrench for 2005 drain and fill plugs?

It seems like the GM fluid is good for awhile and then the noise comes back. The people that used Amsoil seems to stay noise free.

You don't mean the new GM fluid? The latest one?

I'm not sure if they released a new version of the LS fluid, but the people that did a change with the Amsoil fluid didn;t have the problem come back.

If that's the case then a one time purchase of Amsoil should do the trick. Something like this you can do it yourself just need to get drain and fill plug sizes.

Thanks and regards,
