Default Squeeling brakes----advice

My rear brakes are driving me crazy. They squeel every time I stop. Brought car to dealer and they put new pads on and they're still noisy. It's a high pitched noise. What can I do next? Where should I look?

Which dealer did you use?

You could switch to ceramic pads... Less dust and squeak as long as you are not tracking the car...

There is a FAQ about seating the brakes. I did it after I got my new Z51 pads and it worked. You just need a relatively lonely road. I see you're in Waukegan. I used 41 early in the AM. No problem.

ceramic pads are worse. My advise is to go to a vacant area, gas it up, and step on the brakes. lots of sqeal comes from debris on the pad. They might need to be cleaned by the above proceedure. This is what I do when ceramic pads start to make noise.

My dealer is Libertyville Chevrolet and Kevin of HP Performance in Mundelin is the corvette mechanic there. One of the very best in the area IMO. He suggested to try putting up with noise to see if new pads seat in. Sorta embarrasing especially in crowded areas.

Try driving at a slow speed with your foot applying a little bit of pressure to the brake pedal, just enough so you know that the brakes have somewhat engaged. Let off the brake and do it again.

My brakes started to squeal at 300 mi. I started blowing out the caliper, pads, and rotor on each wheel with 145psi of compressed air. You would not belive how much black dust billowed out of each brake set. Brake dust causes brake pads to chatter, which translates into brake sqeal. Now, the brakes get blown out before the Vette gets put away. Brakes stopped sqealing immediatley. Wear a dust mask if you try it.

My front right brakes squealed from the get go. I changed to eradispeed rotors and ceramic pads. For the first 300 miles, all was nice and quiet. Then all of of sudden, the squeal was back. Must be the front right caliper has an issue.

I like the price on that fix, I think I'll try it.

My Z51 was made in January '06, and the brakes squeal.

Z51 and no squeal for 9500 miles. Then all of a sudden a minor squeal for a few hundred miles and then it went away again. I have no idea why it either came or went...but it was sure a pain when it was there.

I used this procedure and have not had any squeaks.
