Hoffie's a hero today.....Saves baby in my pool today
My wifes cousin and her 3 daughters are visiting us from Pa. W were all in the backyard. The pool had about 10 kids in it. Their were about 8 adults along the side of the pool talking. Alleigh the baby, 2 years old , was in a castle float with her older sisters and all the other kids. Some how she slipped out the side and wound up under another float. Her sister spotted her about 1 to 2 minutes latter. Thank God Hoffie came over just 2 minutes earlier. My wife screamed and Hoffie grabbed her and she was blue as can be. Not breathing and no pulse. I never saw anything like that in my life Hoffie started CPR. I called 911. After about a minute Alleigh started to vomet. She the opened her eyes and moved her fingers. She is now in the hospital being held over night for observation. Hoffie and I went to see Alleigh and her mom and they are doing fine. What we thought was going to be a perfect weekend could have turned out to be a tragic one. Their will be no more non-swimmers allowed in our pool without a vest. Even if their moms are holding them in their hands or the are just walking along the side of the pool. Hoffie.....Our whole family thanks you.

Scary story.
Good ending.
My wife and I had a pool party yesterday at our house w/ approx 30 kids and 30 adults.
We hired one of the older babysitters we use (21 yr old, very attentive, and a great swimmer) to watch the kids in the pool the whole day. She basically was lifeguard for the day and did a great job.
All the parents were doing great managing their own kids, but it def helped to have an extra set of eyes concentrating primarily on watching the little ones.

wow, happy ending to a scary story. The gate to my pool stays firmly shut if anyone under 7 is around our house, and no one is allowed in the pool without supervision. This is a great reminder of how quick a pool can do some damage to a child

Thanks for reminding me to be extra careful when others are in my pool
Stories like this are necessary to hear every once in a while when we get too complacent although it would be better if they never happened.

If I am not mistaken guys, this is the second such save I have seen described on our forum. The other was a little boy around the same age.

Glad the baby is ok. Glad Hoffie was there to help out. Here is a good set of recommendations from one who was a lifeguard for many years.
A. GET CPR TRAINING.
B. If you cannot swim, No Pool. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Swimmies, life preservers and the like do not prevent drownings.
At one point I did this with my youngest daughter. When she was 4 she refused to learn to swim, I refused to let her in the pool. Arguments with the wife, but I held my ground and won.
Ain't is scary seeing the kid all blue?

Way to go hoffie!
Alleigh is a very lucky girl...When underwater for that length of time at such a young age, the chances of CPR bringing a victim back are very slim.
Thank goodness everything turned out well .

Thanks to all of you for the kind words & Pm's.Its always a good thing when it turns out like this. There were too many times it went the other way. I'm a firm believer that God was looking down on this precious little angel. It did not look like it was going to turn out for the best. Her poor little lifeless body was as blue as could be. There was no way I was gonna let her go. After 2-3 minutes she let out lots of water & started to cry.Thats something I will never forget.Joel took me to the Hosp to see her & he took that picture of her sleeping on her Moms chest.Joel just called me and told me she is watching cartoons in her hosp room & is doing very well.If I was not there Joel or Debbie(joels wife)would have done the same thing & Im positive they would have had the same results. Thanks to everyone again for the kind words.
