Default My top has started creaking... what should I do?

It sure sounds like the delam problem, kind of a snappy creaky sound when going over bumps, and it creaked when I took it off today. Does that mean it's delaminating, or do I just need to put some silicone along the rear edge where the sound seems to be coming from?

If I do need to take it in.. do the dealers take your top.. and send you out with no top?

If you have a top problem just leave them the top. They do not need the rest of the car to fix the top.

If/when it happens to me, my dealer will provide a loaner car and allow me to keep the C6 in my garage until replacement panel is ready for install.

I bought the a transparent top as a back up, my top has been replaced once. I need another replacement again at least i have a transparent for backup. Take your car into the dealership for an inspection.

I too am starting the creaking. According to my dealer there are two ways for him to replace the roof. One is if I have the recall notice from Chevy and two is if the roof actually comes apart (or starts to). I plan to let it open at the seams, have them order it and put duct tape on until it arrives. Chevy should be ashamed, but then I have to question their honor, having let it go this far. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, though. The best fix is to purchase a transparent top for the time when it is down for repair, but that's a lot of money for a short term situation. Then again, Checy should offer all of us a transparent top in consideration for a faulty design, but that is really dreaming!!!

Actually, I think the way to get Chevy off their butts is for people to let the cars sit at the dealership waiting for repair for 30 days and then file for a buyback from GM. When they're faced with buying the cars back, they'll fix the problem.

First I would look for seperation. If it was starting to seperate I would help it along so its past 75%. Go to the dealer, have them order your new SMC top and tape down your seperated one until it arrives.
I'm not leaving my car for some shoestring foam fix.

Yes, Doc, if it is creaking then the delamination has started. Sorry, but that is the way it is. I'm in FL also and on my 4th roof (3800 miles). Open up a "request" number with GM customer service, even if you are happy with the dealer's service, they might get you a little higher on the waiting list and a better loaner (assuming you want one). Although, I have heard of a few stories of folks getting a glass loaner top, I could not find a dealer that would do that for me.

Mine makes those noises too and I'm fairly sure it is separating, but with so much dealer confusion over what to do as reported here, I'm going to wait for the official recall before taking it in. Should happen in the next 30 days or so. In the meantime, I've got a roll of duct tape in the car.

TURN UP THE RADIO!

BTW, I don't know what part of FL you're in, but we've been hoping for rain here where I live. It's been practically bone dry!

Turn DOWN the radio. I think Dobbrock's stereo is the sole cause of delamination for all the C6's throughout North America!

Some dealers want to keep the car. I wouldn't let them. Since mine is a daily driver, I wouldn't let them keep the top either. Duct tape to the rescue. They can call when the new parts are in.

It's a great excuse to buy a transparent top. Once you run with one for a few days, you'll forget all about the painted top!
