ZWINBACK. Keep calling until somebody gives you the promotional rate.

Just say that you got the $77 renewal postcard. Also, make them send you the bill, don't give them your credit card number.

My XM runs out in a few weeks and I just tried to renew at a better rate than the $12.95 a month. I spoke to 3 different customer service reps and explained I was not willing to pay the standard rate as the car is by no means a daily driver--it is 15 months old and has 4200 miles on it. I was transferred to the "retention" team each time, and they would not budge on price. All 3 also said ZWINBACK was a one-time deal that I could not use again.

Anyone else have better luck renewing at a decent rate after their one-year subscription ran out? I like the XM; however, don't spend enough time in the car to consider $12.95 worth the money.

Thanks!

I gave up. How many freaking times do you have to call before you decide that you've wasted enough time trying to get the $77 rate? I liked it enough to renew last year; but it is a very poorly run operation. They shut mine off around 5 or 6PM last Tuesday. They couldn't even wait for the end of the day.

Just wait, they'll come around. After my 3-month new car subscription expired they sent me a teaser of three months for $5 and $13 per month for the rest of the year. Then they gave me a phone call offering the same teaser which I turned down. Eventually that phone call resulted in an offer of $77 for one year. When I called back to confirm and accept the offer they tried to tack on another $15 for a reconnection fee. I said no thanks.

Then came another post card offering $77 for one year with no reconnection fee. I accepted that and paid for it with a credit card that expires in a few months.

I used this code the first time and I'll be do in a few more months. Does anyone know if you can use it early, like now, or do you have to wait until you are just ready to expire? Thanks.

Between losing a customer and getting 77 bucks.
They should take the 77 bucks.

About 3 weeks before my subscription for the past year expired 8/1, I called them and asked that my credit card number be deleted. I also asked for the $77. Ofcourse the first call always goes to India and they only know the scripted answers. Tell them you don't want the service unless you get the $77. India will say "they know nothing about that" and will transfer you to Jamaica if they do it right. The people in Jamaica actually carry on conversations and answer questions. The first Jamaican call removed my credit card number and said I would get a ZWINBACK notice after expiration. There is like a 30 day grace period that you don't get shut off from service. I called about a week before 8/1 to make sure the credit card number was gone and ofcourse went from India to Jamaica. The guy in Jamaica said the card number was no longer on file and said he would set me up for billing of $77 plus tax, tip etc. The bill would not be mailed until after 8/1. On 8/3 I got a notice that they would charge me $38 a quarter if there was a credit card on file otherwise I needed to call them. Don't call. About 8/6 I got my bill for $77 plus tax and a $2 charge for using a check. You have to be fairly rude to the people in India to get your point across and it may take a few tries, but if you get to Jamaica you are home free. What is the worse that happens. You get a loss of XM radio for a while!!!!!!!!! They won't let that happen...........

I would think that is their problem, not yours

Default $77 Rate

Howdy Folks,

I don't post much on this forum but I am HUGE lurker. Anyway - I just called XM and waited 20 minutes on hold after telling the inital person that I wanted the $77 one year rate. Didn't even mention the code. I got the rate and told them to bill me and to remove my credit card on file. They said no problem and that was that!

This will be my second year at this rate!

So if you're looking to renew - be patient and you should get this deal.

Thanks!

I just used the ZWINBACK code last week and it worked perfectly during my FIRST phone call to XM. Rate was $77 for 12 months.

That's what happened to me. When I discovered it was still working, I also found out they put through a charge on my credit card (used to renew last year). The card had expired and they did not know he new expiration date but managed to put a 3 month charge on it.

After their refusal to give me the $77 rate and failure to honor 2 promises to reverse the credit card charge, I contacted my credit card company to get the charge removed.

Default XM worth it at whatever price you have to pay

I would not be without XM. If its $12.95 per month or lower with a faimly plan or promo, I think its worth it. Going out for dinner and drinks easily adds up to what one full year of XM costs. I think its worth it, but opinions are like butts, everybody has one.

If you give them your CC# they will charge you full bore next time without your permission. Ask for a paper bill and pay the extra $2 service fee!!

Dial 1-800-XM RADIO, got right thru, told them I lost the postcard but it had ZWINBACK code rate on it, turned my XM right back on after 2 months off.
They are mailing me a bill for $77.00.
Thanks for the info.
