Default GM's reason for discontinuing DSOM?

I'm curious as to why GM will no longer paint DSOM. What's wrong with it?

Too hard to tell if the car is rusted out or not.

They've done that since day one. Guess if they didn't we'd all be driving white vette's with red interiors.

Poor sales. The only color they sold less of was white, which wasn't available on the Z-06. But for coupes and verts, even white outsold DSOM.

You know, I love my black Vette, but GM's paint choices with this car--especially in the area of reds--should have psychological evaluation. DSOM/"Atomic Orange" is just another chapter. One would think that someone could come up with a good gameplan to address all likes. How hard can it be?

All Corvettes are painted Red at the factory; the dealers paint them different colors at their dealership!!

I love my DSOM and as far as Atomic Orange.. YUCK .

Saw it at the New England Grand Prix at Limerock 4h of July weekend. It does absolutely nothing for me. But every one opinion is different. I also like my DSOM for the fact that out of 200+ Corvettes in the Car Corral I was one of only 2 DSOM. Easy to pick it out in the sea of "RED" cars. I like White too.

Yes I live by the motto "dare to be different," had a Torch Red and I loved it, see them now and I still love them, but every single time I look at Sunny Coppertone my love goes to the 10th power. When I first saw the DSOM at the 2004 auto show I new I had to have it and I new it would go down as a unique color.

I've heard that GM will kill off a color on the Corvette if it's total production is around 5% or less so that's probably why Sunset Orange got the boot. White has also been sitting around this point too but I don't think they would ever kill off any of the classic Corvette colors such as white, red or black. In fact I believe white is the only color on the Corvette which has been offered every single year since 1953. (white was the only color on the 1953 I believe)

Its a great color, DSOM is a hot color, the Mrs did not like it, went with Monterey Red another hot color, I'm happy.

I'm very happy with DSOM and low sales numbers are a good thing as far as I'm concerned!

Love the DSOM
I like the thought of having a different color rather then the same old red, black, silver. JMHO.

I'm betting that the new AO won't last as long as DSO did.

Personally I like DSOM, but if it was a slow seller for Chevy, why did they replace it w/ another color that is very similar? I would rather have seen a Polo Green or a darker silver like Spiral Gray, but what can you do?

Not to sound morbid , but I read it was a fading issue on the plastic /fibreglass matching points..???
