Default Front End Alignment

Bought an 05 MN6 Coupe in Feb 06 with about 11,000 miles on the clock. Two weeks ago I noticed the inside tread of the front tires was gone. Prior to installing new skins I asked the Goodyear folks if they would be able to do an alignment after the install. Of course the answer was yes. And of course they could not. Called a local Chevrolet dealership and again the answer was yes we can and again no, they could not. Left there and went to another dealer where I was told a front end alignment would not fix the problem. I needed a ride hieght alignment first then a front end alignment. This is my first Corvette and I understand what he was saying. My question is, do I really need the ride hieght alignment?

Why couldn't the first two places do the alignment?

Their sensors either would not fit or fear of damage to the rims
