Default Brake dust does not look that bad on the standard C6 wheels

Brake dust builds up very quickly on my C6. I made a good choice getting the standard wheels. When I look at the wheels I'm not that motivated to clean them. The wheels don't look that bad. It's a pain in the *ss keeping these wheels clean. With other cars I've owned the brake dust made the wheels look like crap.

The dust tones down the brightness, but unless they get wet or I touch them, they do not look bad until I can wash it again.

Mini California Car Dusters work great to get rid of any dust that builds up as long as you maintain a good coat of wax on the wheels.

I have the polished wheels and a quick wipe down, about 5 minutes with a microfiber rag is all it takes to make my wheels look awesome. I keep plenty of wax on them and only wipe them down, maybe once a month, in between washings every 2 months or so. Gotta love silver.

1.Rejex
2. a rag

Takes but a few minutes to get them all spotless (or dustless as the case may be).

Break dust looks bad on any wheel! I use Turtle wax on my polished wheels then wipe with a rag. The wax will last a long time and it only takes a second to wipe them down. When it starts to feel rough, wax again. Break dust will scratch your wheels when you wipe them down if you don't have a good coat of wax on them.

I also had the dealer replace my pads on my Z51 due to a break memo that came out last summer. Now I get very little dust.

They may clean up easily to some people; but, that dust sure is black.
I have been washing them with a mit that I use on the car and I have to run the mit thru a washing machine cycle to get the black out. I have just tried waxing them to see what difference, if any, that makes.

Default Rejex and WCC Chromes and brake dust

I replaced my standard painted wheels with the WCC Chrome Wheel Exchange wheels and with Rejex they stay amazingly clean, a lot cleaner than with the original painted wheels. I am thinking that maybe the Rejex keeps the brake dust from sticking? Anyhow, besides the new bling, the Rejex on chrome is also easier to keep clean.

Change your pads to ceramic. It cost me $200 or so. Guess what, no squeel and hardly any dust. I use to wash my rim after 3 drives. No or very low dust after 6 long drives now.

As long as I don't touch mine, they look fine, just a bit darker. And mine are polished too. I'm still suprised how much people complain about the dust. The only time mine looks bad is after a trackday. But then the car gets washed anyway.

Brake dust can be abrasive. It would be best to wait til you can spray a wheel cleaner that brakes down brake dust on the wheels then then remove it by spraying them with a water hose.

On top of waxing the spokes of the wheel, I also like to put a coat of wax on the inside of the wheel as well...which I do not buff off. That way there is a thick coat. Makes the dust on the inside come off easily at the high pressure wash...

I would never re-use a wash mit even after washing in your washing machine. Your clothes go in there! They only cost a buck or two...

by using a wheel cleaner won't that remove any thing that was put on as protectant? i.e. Zaino, Klasse, and Rejex vs. just a wipe down so whaever you used doesn't get removed from the wheels.

I feel the same way that was one of the reasons I wanted grey competition wheels from GM. I have heard if you use ceramic pads that helps. Too bad the Corvette doesn't have factory black wheels.
