Fog Light Modification

Fog Light Modification
I was just wondering. Is there any functional modification to do with the holes created by the fog lights. Would it be worthwhile to duct them and cool the brakes or possibly do something else. Would it be very inhibiting on aero or can something be done with the C6 fog light area? I've seen holes on some of the race cars on the nose/bumper area of the car so I was just wondering if there was anything that could be done with the fog lights

I also never use my foglights lol, anybody black them out on a black car? I'm considering blacking out the fog lights so the headlights stand out more, it may look better but i'm not sure. Maybe i'll be the first to do it and throw up some pictures?

What do the tunnel pieces on intakes do specifically. What if you took two stock intakes or LPE (whatever design) and placed it at the entranced to the fog lights. Designed the innards to direct the air into the intake and at the end of the intake connect the ducting and run them to the brakes. Connect a proper connector/valve at the end of the ducting.. like a vacuum piece or something and have it shoot out the air properly onto the brake to cool it, or whatever the application may be. Would it also be possible to duct these fog light intakes to aide the main engine intake or would it produce too much air? Could it work? Plus cover the fog light entrances with a small black grill on my car to avoid anything large getting into the ducting. Tri-intake, that sound so badass lol.

Ive seen some vendor selling ducting kits for just this application, its 2 seperate parts to buy. One is the ducting (accordian black tube) that goes from the fog light hole (I think) to the front brake, then a second part that attaches to the spindle somehow to direct it to the rotor. Ill try and find it again for you guys, maybe someone else will remember.

not sure how to get the duct any closer as the wheels turn (passenger stock brake vent)
this view is under passenger front before air dam - looks like it gets lots of air now....

You could direct the ducting more inward towards the nose of the car first then move it to behind the wheel. Modifying the nose of the car, and use the grill area might be more probable, but it looks like the fog lights would work too. I suppose this is a mod for the forum trackstars lol. Thanks for the pics, I really appreciate it 2LT.

Fog Lamps
What I thought about doing but haven't have the nerve yet.......it to paint the inside of the fog lamps body color like the headlights......I think that would look cool

Or the C6 Z06 ducts, which fit much better than the DRM pieces, The C6Z06 ducts also do not require you to chop up your stock ducts as they go all the way to the front bumper holes. You do have to trim your inner plastic fender just like the DRM's require. Oh BTW the C6 Z06 ducts also cost about 80% less than the DRM's.I got my C6 Z06 brake ducts from Fred Beans GM parts. I think they were $11 each. The DRMs are a ripoff especially since they are actually designed for a C5 and do not fit the C6 very well. The instructions with the DRM's suck and require trial and error to get the proper fit which cannot really be accomplished since they are for a C5. Save yourself the hassle and $200 and just get the Z06 ducts from Fred Beans.

I'll definetly take a look at the Z06 duct and hey, painting the insie of the fog lights black isn't too shabby of an idea. nice! I'm not sure if it'll change appearance but i'll see, i'm still curious about atleast doing a fog light cooling/ducting conversion at the nose of the car. It seems more and more feasible.

How do the racecars duct air onto the rear brakes. I looked at the Z06 Brake ducts and they seriously don't appear to be that functional. Furthermore I looked at a race car and they seemed to be closed off. In the C6R the inlet in the front of the car is closed off so it's not really functional. Could a duct created at the top of the car inorder to get air to the rear brakes?
