Default Brake pads - Anyone use these for street ?

Hi,
I'm looking ahead if I get squeal or too must brake dust on our soon to be here F55, easy street use only. MSI is very close to me and recomend the Z pads over their regular CM as being less dust and better than stock stoping power after a few blocks warm up.
They say since they stock the Z pads in bulk price is about the same.
I was ready to get the GM ceramics before finding these, now not sure which. Anyone with experence please chime in.

My wants:
Quiet
Low dust
Normal stop power
Easy on rotor life

Thanks, Greg

I am using Delco ceramic pads. Works great. However, I did upgrade my rotors to Baer Eradispeed+1s.

Astronomer--Do you have a Z51 and if so what were the part #s on your pads. Thanks John

I have an F55 so I used the Eradispeed +1 14" rotors on all four wheels. The shop that installed the rotors also put on the pads. I will find out tomorrow what the part numbers are and post them tomorrow. Will also PM them to you as well. :-)

(Need to call the shop to find the numbers and they are closed today)

I am trying out the Hawk ceramics from Pilot this week. I hope to give pictures and feedback about these pads after a week of driving.

I am getting so much dust from my Z51 pads that I have to clean my wheels after every two drive. Dealers refused to change my pads because they have pulled the recall and said that Z51 are suppose to squeel. I check with 2 other chevy dealerships and they said the same thing. They are not going to replace stock Z51 and owners are going to deal with the squeel.

That sux right?

Most hi-performance pads squeal. Just a cold, hard fact. Using an isolation adhesive (blue glue) will help some, but it will always be with us. Kind of like a 'red badge of courage'.

Default Ceramic Pads

I have a 2005 C6, 6 spd.with the standard suspension. My wheels were covered in brake dust after just one or two drives. From this forum I read about the good luck folks were having with the GM Ceramics. Gave Gene at Fred Beans (supporting Forum Member) a call and had them within a few days (about $115 delivered) and installed the next. Both the brake dust and that embarasing squeal are both gone.

Thanks all for replying,
I've heard the hawk pads are hard on rotors and I don't want to upgrade rotors. Anyone else have more info on this ?

lennyg: I should say nice to hear from a regular suspension guy, but it also means I'm subject to the same problems How long before your dust and squeal started, and when did you change them out ? How long have you had the ceramics now, and how well do they stop ?
Great price from Fred Bean, Thanks that is all 4 wheels ?
Did you install yourself ?
Thanks

Check-out Porterfield pads http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/pads.html
Their R4-S High Performance Street and Autocross pads are excellent.

depends on the compound.
ceramics or hps are not hard on the rotors. hp+ and the race pads are.

I've been using the Hawk ceramic pads for years and they have not caused excessive rotor wear. PBR Metalmasters, on the other hand, ate the rotors on my BMW.

GM ceramics work well - and they are cheap from Parts Bo or Fred Beans.
