Side bolster wear
Has anyone had a problem with wear spots on the driver outside bolster. 8000 miles and found a small wear spot at the welting seam.

That was a big problem on C5s, but I thought they fixed it on the C6s.
My question is if it happens and the bolster contains an airbag will they have to replace it due to safety issues, not just cosmetic issues? Being old and weak I tend to push off the bolster getting out. I hope that isn't messing up either the bolster leather or the airbag inside...

I think it happens more from dragging one's butt across getting in. I keep my seats leather protected so you slide across and make an active effort not to drag hard across the bolster. So far so good at just over 6000 miles.

The same problem exists with the C4 also. I have an entry and exit technique to limit if not eliminate the problem. I sit down in the seat first without rubbing the bolster, then swing my feet into to place. When exiting, feet out first, then stand up. Worked well with my C4. I expect the same results with my C6, especially with using the exit mode. Of course at 400 miles, no signs of any wear.
Also read threads about how easy the door panels mark and scuff. Noticed a few light ones from bumping my watch. After all these years, I'm now wearing my watch on my right wrist.
Hey BigJoe! Good luck. You’re going to need it.

Nine thousand miles here, and yes I have a wear mark also. I took it to the Dealer and they ordered a new seat cover for it (under warranty). Try it, my dealer didn't hesitate to offer replacement.

Had this problem with my C5 but was happy to get a complete replacement cover for the upper half of the seat from gmpartsdirect.com for $95. It took about 15 minutes to swap it out and it was good as new, after 5 years and 57K miles of use.
