What's The Verdict On The Headlights?
Hi everyone. I'm just curious what everyone thinks. I remember when the C6 first came out the enclosed headlights had some critics, saying things like: "Those are not typical Corvette headlights" and what not. I remember reading in some magazines that people were really divided on the subject, some liked them, some hated them.
I personally loved them the first time I saw them. I thought it was a vast improvement (mainly aerodynamic) but also aesthetically, they are more beautiful, have less chance of mechanical problems (as opposed to flip-ups), and I think we all can agree that the jump to projector HIDs was long overdue.
My opinion, I'm loving the headlights.
Now after almost two years, what are your thoughts on the subject? Love them? Hate them? What can be done to improve them in the future?

I came from 2 C4's and 2 C5's. I called them "darks" not head lights. The C6 headlights are wicked good. Here's an example. Coming home from my NCM delivery I was following a friend in his C5. He was in the right lane and I was about 5 car lengths behind him in the left.
My headlights were brighter and lit the road ahead to where his were. So I pulled back and forth to see where my light pattern was as compared to his. No comparison. Then I hit the high beams. Reminded me of the Lucas Flame Thrower's I had on an old MG back in the late 60's. Like aircraft landing lights.
The C6 HID's are the real deal.

Correct.
HID = Xenon
This is my 1st Corvette, but I've been a fan of the past generations of cars. I agree that the exposed headlights look much better and provide a much better night driving experience. IMHO.

The C6 headlights light up the road much better, I like it! I also like the look, very modern and aerodynamic. But, I must admit to feeling a little sad to see a 40-year Corvette tradition in hidden headlights go away. Very progressive for its time, but that time has passed.

I was very disappointed when I first saw the C6. I hated that the flip lights were gone and I felt that the back end looked like it was chopped too short. I loved the look of the C5 and decided that I would have to buy a used C5. After about a month went by, the C6 started growing on me. I decided to go with the new C6 and now I like the looks of the C6 way more than the C5. I guess I just needed time to get over the shock of the drastic changes (which are all Great).

Both of my other cars have Xenon lighting (BMW/Infiniti). The stock lighting on my '02 Z06 is a joke, I ended up buy the Vette-HID Xenon light conversion. GM should have had Xenon lighting as an option on the late model C-5's...the technology has been around for quite some time.

i personally feel the new headlights are one of the best improvements of the new body style. they single-handedly give the care a more "exotic" high end look.
lights look very similar to a modena's!

I think they're great!! Also, I own a '67 roadster that I haven't driven at night for a couple of years because I'm too lazy/cheap to fix either the headlight motors or the rocker switch on the dash to roll those lights up or down. Give me the C6 lighting package any day.........
