Rattle Poll.....Fellow C6 owner needs feedback before trip to Dealership Service
Hello Corvette Community,
Time for me to take my little Poll. Although I am still on cloud 9 with this awesome car.... I am about to come out of my skin over a *^%&#@! rattle somewhere in the center of my dash.
My wife says I am Hyper-Sensitive when it comes to rattles. I say I am not. I just want my new $50K car to drive rattle-free.
Some of you may recall my wining a few weeks ago in my NCM synopsis about how driving on rough aggregate asphalt (on my return to Houston from BG) generated this rattle.
I've owned the car for a little over a month now and I must say that I really haven't noticed this rattle back again since those course roads mentioned above.
That is....until yesterday! I was giving a friend (fellow C6 owner) to ride a speed-shop and there it was....plain as day. GRRR! I was driving 60-65mph on the same Houston freeways I've been commuting on for weeks now with no rattles. I frequently drive with the radio off just to make sure.
My Reason for this Poll: I am very reluctant to take car to dealer in fears of it coming back either worse than it already was, or with something else wrong. Mainly the thought of Mr. Goodwrench tearing into my 1 month old car's dash-board is just a little hard to stomach right now.
I suppose what I'm doing here is posturing to find my place in the overall C6 ownership community. Trying see where I fit in with the masses of C6 owners vs this issue. Please take my poll and feel free to offer any thing of value.
Much appreciated
Bone

Hey Bone,
Like I told you before, I do have some rattles. In fact, I think it's coming from the same spot you described. Although it's not a constant rattle, I do hear it from time to time. Maybe I've just learned to live with it because I refuse to let a dealer touch my car unless it stops running. I say this because of my horrible experience with every dealer my car has been too in the past. If you decide to let a dealer fix this problem, I would highly recommend taking pictures of your interior and exterior before hand. Also go over the car with the service people and make sure he or she knows the condition of your car and that you expect it returned in the same condition. Good luck and i hope you can resolve this without any further headaches.

They were just there a second ago. I had the rear hatch rattle and fixed it by just screwing out the hatch bumper posts a quarter turn. Good luck with your problem.

I was having a terrible rattle as well but then I realized it was the button on the end of the E-break that was vibrating. It's annoying sometimes but if you just stop it when you hear it, it stays gone for a while....

No rattles in my 05. 19 months and 10,600 miles. I did have a slight noise from my solid roof that was eliminated with the "Shin Etsu" grease. I can't hear anything at all with the Bullets on the car anyway!!!!!!!!

I have some very very mild dash rattles.....my prob is I had Sirius installed and if I go to the dealer they'll say it is the installation....I went back to the installer and they tore the dash apart and couldn't find anything....I just live with it and if the top is down or the music is on you can't hear anything anyways......

I have a rattle, well more like a buzzing from the left pod of the instrument cluster. It drives me bonkers...
