Default Tire reviews

It's time to put new rubber on my C6. Any recommendations on what others have used as a daily driver -- but spirited driving at that.
No Track use (yet). I live in San Antonio, so it's mostly dry and sunny so wet performance is not that crucial, but needs to be considered for those times when it does rain (b/c it rains hard when it does rain at all).
Any help would be appreciated. I know this subject has been hashed through about a 1000 times, but what I read seemed to be focused a lot more on track tires that could function as street tires. I was looking for more the opposite.

I forgot to mention that I have the Z51 package.
I was hoping for a moderate life out of the tires, but know full well by now, that to get 15-20k out of a set of sport tires is pretty good.

If you favor traction over long life, I can recommend the Michelin PS2s.

I bought a set of Falken FK-451's and have been very impressed how sticky they are. The price on them is great and they handle excellent in the rain. I had a set of the supercar EMT's for the Z51 and I hydroplaned about 4 times, but not once with these new tires in the same condition. Good Luck, there are alot of choices out there.

I have Toyo's very happy with them. Much more predictable then the F1's. I paid around 900 installed. not run flats.

Outstanding traction wet or dry, and reasonable mileage

I'll second that. Check My Corvette Photos (at left) for my dyno #s. The PS2s handle the power well.

I had these on my C5 and was very happy with them. I'll put them on my C6 when it's time for new tires.

The original owner of my C5 got 24k miles from the OEM tires, I got 30k with a second set of OEM. I then put on the GS-D3 which comes with 10/32 of tread. I have run these for 30k and still have 6-7/32 of tread. They handle better and are quieter. I went the Z06 C5 route and purchased a tire plug kit and 12 volt air compressor because they are not run flats.

I plan to put either GY Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT (OEM base) or GY Eagle F1 A/S-C EMT (all season) on when the supercar tires wear out on my Z51. I want something with better wet traction and longer life for my daily driver, 'cause when it rains here, it really rains. I did a little research today, and found the treadwear and wet traction numbers were:

220 7 GY Eagle F1 supercar EMT (max. performance summer)
300 10 GY Eagle F1 GS-2 EMT (ultra high performance summer)
320 10 GY Eagle F1 A/S-C EMT (ultra high performance all season)

All 3 have dry traction ratings of 10, although the supercar tires are supposed to be stickier. I put two sets of OEM GY Eagle F1 GS EMT's on my C5 while I owned it and got about 30,000 out of each set.

What are the treadwear and wet traction numbers for the GY Eagle F1 GS-D3, and do they come in EMT, anybody know?

Yes for the PS2s; no for the GS-D3s (though you can come close):

While PS2's are not runflats, they not only offer better traction, they are quiter and offer a better ride since their sidewalls are not as rigid. At first I was concerned about not having runflats but then I can't remember the last time I had a flat. For $5 every 6 months, my insurance offers free towing to the nearest garage anyway.

According to this post at the MBWorld forum, the treadware rating is 280. Anyone who has these tires should be able to confirm by looking at the rating indicated on the tire sidewall. The GS-D3 are available in both runflat and non-runflat versions.

It doesn't cover your present driving area does it?
