I used a free program called Deep Burner, worked great for burning the MP3's too.

Got the 2 CD's burned, now just need to know if anyone has done this to a radio with a different part number than what is in the bulletin.

Write the 2 ISO images to 2 CDs

If you don't know how to write ISO images to CD, search google.com.
You will need a program that can convert and write an ISO image to CD.
ISO Converter and Burner

Might try extracting files and just writing them to CD:
ISO Extractor

Performed upgrade on VIN 101586 (Sept. 2004). See picture below.

I just followed your post and did the upgrade. It went without a hitch. Now I just have to make some MP3 files and see if it works.

Thanks for the links and info. I love this forum!
You saved me a trip to my dealer.

SB

P.S. Cut and paste "write ISO images to CD" in Google search and the first choice gave me the link to the free software to write the downloaded files to cd's
Thanks again! Vin: 1159xx, Built Feb 05

How about your VIN, build date, or radio part number.

My car was built in August 2004. Picked it up from dealer first week of Sept. 2004. I'm assuming I have the old part number. Thanks.

Well my Accessories shut down while it was doing disk 2. The unit is now stuck with the screen open and everything off. Think I fried it.

Did you hold the acces button down long enough for the car to come "ON" vice just access?

Try turning the car back on again holding the access button down for at least 15-20 secs, and if it comes on, restart the process.

Hope it works

I did not hold the ACC down long enough. The disk is in the DVD slot and the stereo is just off with the screen down.

You can't burn the ISO file directly to CD and it work. You might be able to find an ISO extractor and then write those files directly to CD, just haven't tried it with these CDs. Thanks.

Searched Google with "iso extractor", found link below. Trial version extracted the files. ISO Extractor

Added link to an archive that contains the individual files that can written directly to CD. This is a work around if you don't know how to work with ISO images. Thanks.

Well I just did mine. The install went great but I don't have an MP3 disc yet that it will recognize.

Any tips for making one?

I have plenty of MP3s on my hard drive from limewire. But do I just copy a few of these to a disk?

Tried that and it didn't work.
