Ok, its tomorrow morning. I am anxious to hear your update on whether MP3's will play on it.
Has anyone gotten their hands on the install instructions yet as well? Even if someone knows where the wiring harness is, I'm sure I can find a place to mount it. There's not many choices in a coupe, its either the left or right rear compartment to maintain a clean appearance.

Any news on the wiring harness, MP3 capability, etc?
I think you've got lots of interested customers just waiting on a few details before they "send their lists to Santa" this year!
I think your most recent statement that "Installation takes one hour" would indicate that the harness has to be in place. I can't see how anyone could pull a seat, trim, carpeting, etc. run a cable and replace all of these things in one hour. More like 1 hour to mount some screws for the bracket and plug in a pre-existing cable.
Is this the possible reason for the VIN breakpoint? Early cars don't have the harness? Not to be a "chicken-little" here, but that would suck for about 14000 of us. Especially that the 6-disc was advertised early in 2004 as a "coming soon" option in the official accessories catalog.
Thanks, and no angst directed towards you; you are the pioneer here (look out for the arrows!)

Oh crap
I was hoping the vin cut off was software related and that the MP3 upgrade (if the effing thing ever comes out) would allow for the changer.

Yes, we still need to verify with someone who can play MP3 discs in their NAV head unit such as a 2006 car if those same discs will play in the new 6 disc changer.
Can we get our hands on the install instructions yet? Is the wiring harness just sitting behind the storage compartment already or are we in need of running a cable to somewhere?

Could we get a box opened so the install instructions can be scanned in for online viewing? I think this would boost sales and would be worth your trouble. I will order one once I see whats involved. I will not be taking it to a dealer to have it installed, I am perfectly capable and I'm sure many others feel the same way.

My vin is 11785, but at the C5/6 bash in April, they did a software update to my nav system at the customer quality clinic. Does that make mine cut it?
I definitely feel like I bought too soon. analog onstar, no free nav map updates, and accessories that won't work with it.

Yep, me too, I'm 15215, two below the cutoff. Had fuel gauge problem, delaminated top, dead battery, all things that may have been fixed for 06. How bout those free Nav updates. Damn, always knew about the first year of a model change, guess nobody to blame but myself. At least mine starts now, but the volt meter is lurking in the high 13's. It was a steady 14.5 right after the new battery was installed about a month ago. Think I'll spring for the extended warranty now. Good luck--e
