Default Are there really that many problems with the c-6?

Been thinking of trading my 2001 in on a c-6. I have 60 thousand miles on it and it has never been to the dealer. Only problem has been a turn signal light. PITA changing it. I have never had any mods. I also have a 2003 ann with only 7 thousand on it. It as well has not seen the dealer. Only mod has been a blackwing. I have been ignoring the column lock recall. After reading all the posts with the problems the c-6 is having I am thinking twice about trading in. Cananyone give me insight into the c-6 problems? Next to the doctor the dealer is the last place I want to spend time.

While I know others have had problems with their C6 (as I bet some did with the C5), I only had squeeky brakes on my Z51. They were never bad, but they would occasionally squeel, so they were replaced at no charge.

Other than that, not one problem.

All you hear about here are problems because people are looking for answers. If there are no problems we don't post. How much action would a "I have had zero problems" thread generate? Oh, BTW I have had zero problems in 1000 miles and 1.5 months...

I think the biggest problem the C6 has is that the whiners are overly vocal.
The majority of the 30,000 plus C6 buyers to date are thrilled to death with the great car the C6 is.

Good to hear these replies. Car and driver or one of them listed the vett as low reliability. That was the reason for my post. Thought I would get info from real people. Thanks.

Apparently ol' bang here only wants to have sunshine blown up his skirt, so I haven't had a fuel gauge problem, I haven't had a delaminated top and I haven't had a bad battery and the car has not been at the dealer for 25 days since February. See isn't this a wonderful car and company?

Did I read this right? You have an '01 and an '03 that have never had "Service Column Lock" and then the tow to the dealer? You are surely the only person alive with not one but two C5's that never had a locked column. Don't ever sell those cars!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, you over exaggerate the problem. I've had 4 C5s and not one ever had column lock. Again, this seems to be more of a problem than it actually is because no one ever posts, "I didn't have column lock today!"

Big Joe,
You are very fortunate to have never had a column lock problem, but, there is a reason that Chevrolet recalled every single 1997 -2004 corvette. For the record, my 1998 convertible had 9 occurances of column lock in 3 years, my 2001 had 3 attacks in 3 years. I have never talked to anyone locally with a C5 that did not have at least one column lock issue, so consider yourself fortunate. I'm not doing chicken little here, instead, Jack Webb: "Just the facts, sir".

Jimmy

After reading the forum for 1 1/2 years I expected some problems with my car. I realize I've only had my car since October 7, 2005 and have driven only 1750 miles but I have no problems. So far it is a perfect car. I have bought six cars in my lifetime and every one of them had problems right from the start and one of them was an Infinity. Now that I have said this tomorrow I might have DBS or some other problem but my gut feeling is that this Corvette is going to treat me very well.

I have squeaky brakes that GM won't fix. I will do it on my own. I had to have the rear cargo flooring replaced. It did not fit correctly. No big deal. I have posted several questions about things I thought might not be right. They were fine. I am very happy.

guess I was lucky too. my first z had a active handling failure where the sensor that measures the degree of steering wheel position was not well connected. replaced, not another problem.

non of my friends have reported this problem either. heard a lot about, but lucky not to see it really happen.

For GM to do a full on recall (not a TSB) for the column lock problem, it is not an "exaggerated problem". Just because you were fortunate enough not to get stranded somewhere doesnt mean it wasn't happening to others in significant numbers.

The c6 will far exceed your c5's in every way possible.I've had mine since sept.28th.no problems,1057 miles and parked for the WINTER!I sold my 01 and bought the 05 z51.It feels like the 01 did after 5 grand worth of mods to the engine!!!Absolutely amazing, great car!Get one, you'll be amazed!
