Verticle doors
Okay, I searched the board for this topic and didn't find any accurate posts.
I'm thinking of putting a custom verticle door kit on my Z51. I want to reduce the amount the door opens, and still have a decent amount of room to get in and out.
Any thoughts from the gallery? Pros/Cons? Suggestions?
Thanks.

I did fing the "Lambo Doors" thread. I'm not doing the bolt-on kit. I have a brother that is going to help me engineer a custom hinge.
Any feed back for the people who have had/have vertical doors on their Vettes?

I was interested in this mod untill I saw how many Honda Civics, and other cheapass cars have them on em now. They are apparently less expensive now, and the exclusiveness of it is almost down to zero. Just my opinion of course.

An engineer friend of mine is trying to figure out how to build "Gull wing" door hinges. He is the same guy who custom machined by aluminum brake box on my Cobra. This is a much greater engineering feat than “Lambo Doors” and would probably be specific to only one type of car. Anyone know of any Vettes that have this custom work? I believe it would require some heavy roof bracing tied into the windshield and "B" pillar structures.

Technically it only hoses the warranty on the parts you modify or, in addition, pieces which might be affected by your modifications.

Um.... there is no door frame above the window... the hinge would have to extend down the whole length of the window... and the roof is removeable, so it would have to attached to the b pillar and the windshield.

Could be hinnged in the middle between the windshield and "B" pillar using a custom frame that connects both like those top-off anti-flex bars that were being sold a few years ago. Didn't say it would be easy or even feasible, but he is looking into it. We are only limited by ourselves and anything can be done with time and money. He's built entire frames from scratch, don't think he won't figure this one out. Anyway, I believe it would be a very cool product or one off mod.
