Thanks to Jeff Scano and Elite Engineering!
The "Abs of Steel" is a great product. I highly recommend it.
Tunnel heat has been drastically reduced and my convertible no longer
creaks when I take ramps on an angle.

"The "Original" Stainless Steel Coated plate,
Type 304 Stainless. This plate is a full 0.134" thick and does
a great job of dissipating the heat and stiffening the chassis.
In addition, this plate is Ceramic Coated to further reduce
the amount of heat transfer from the exhaust."

Great! I thought about getting one. Maybe if I add an x-pipe to my Borlas, that would be the time to do it. If I had known I'd have the H-pipe off when I put on the Borlas, I would have just gotten the X-pipe and abs at the time, but I didn't know until I lifted it.

They state that this addition is about a two and a half hour job. Did you find this to be about the right amount of time?
Also, can this be done on a regular car lift or would one run into problems moving parts around?

No excessive tunnel heat on my '06 either. I read here somewhere that they have been putting some insulation up in the tunnel somewhere. By the way, when I was on the factory tour, I saw where they put the OEM tunnel plate on. One worker was carrying to the car, and it was flapping and bending like it was really thin. When you put on the abs-o-steel did you check out the part you took off? Did you look up in the tunnel?

We had the swap done in about an hour including extracting a broken stud on the manifold/exhaust flange.
I strongly recommend the following:
a. Access to a lift.
b. A buddy to help.
c. Lock-eze/WD-40 to pre-soak the nuts connecting the exhaust pipes to the exhaust manifold at the flange to prevent breaking a stud off (which we did due to rust).
d. Disconnect the O2 sensors in-line versus via the instruction drawings. It is a simple squeeze ‘n pull to disconnect them. Connections are located on either side of the tunnel 1/3rd of the way down the tunnel from driveshaft.
e. Drill driver with 8mm (1/4 drive) socket attached for removal of the 36 bolts holding the OEM plate in place. Use care when re-installing the bolts and do not use the drill driver to make the final tightening. No torque specifications required (per our dealer GM Certified Corvette Technician); just hand tight and then a gentle “nudge” to ensure tightness.

I asked the tech to take these pictures so I didn't see the tunnel personally.
The Abs is VERY STIFF. You can't bend it with your bare hands. If your car creaks I'm sure that it will tighten it up.

When I watched my car being made they handed the tunnel plate to me and I wrote on it "Built for David and Glenda Davidson / 10/7/05" with a paint pen. I signed it and had all the workers in that area sign it too.
It was heavy and did not bend. I don't remember seeing them put insulation on with the plate but in this picture it appears there is a thin layer above the plate. The insulation?
Hmmmmm Still looks clean after 560 miles.
