Default Taking the plunge tomorrow on new '05 coupe

Need feedback. Am I crazy? I'm going to trade in my '04 vert with 2k miles? That's if the dealer can meet my price . List on the coupe is $53k. Silver, z51, mn6, polished wheels, 1sb.
My book value is about $39k.
If dealer can go to $44.5k (GMS level) and we can work out a $5500 diff, I'm going to jump. On the phone, the number was in the $9's. He probably won't do it.
What do ya'all think?

Good luck on that one...That would be good for you but highly unlikely.

Do it if you can get your price. Be ready to walk, and the dealer may surprize you.

If you can make the deal...great! If not, your car is still like new, get out & drive it!

You're 100% right. I used to sell cars (1986 Fords) and I chased a lot of people out the door. Some of them tried to run me over!

No, you're not crazy. If the numbers work out for you at all, then definitely go for it.

The difference between your present car and the C6 that you are looking at is like night and day. Definitely an upgrade over your C5.

Good luck. My guess is the dealer won't go for it. Keep us posted.

Default deal

53k-7.5k=45.5...-39k for yours=6500.The deals for 05 on here have been up to 7500 off certain model 05's,45-5grand off on other models. He may try to bag you on trade, and I don't know what your 04 is worth in the real world...but if you get anywhere near your #s,grab the c6,it is far superior to the c5!good luck.Oh,and let's say he gives you 39k trade for your's,real money,he'd have to sell it on his lot for what...43-44 grand??We all know vette's are marked up crazy when they're used...but reality is,would you pay 43-44 grand for a new body style new vette or the same money for an old body style used vette??I know what i'd do!I'm not sticking up for the dealer here either, just voicing a thought on the issue.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I have seen $6500-$7500 off the MN6 Z51 Coupes. Even the '05s. That MN6 Z51 is a hot item right now. In the Vette, you have to go up to the Z06 if you want to top it. And many of those are going for above sticker.

You may see those type of discounts on the verts, but they sticker for about what 6700.00 more than a coupe anyway?

$4500 off might be as far as you can get him.

I negotiated long and hard and they wouldn't go lower than $4000 off on my Z51 and it was an A4. But then it was the only '05 Z51 they had on the lot and several other people were looking at it at the same time. If you drop the Z51 (I wouldn't) you could probably get a better deal.

Sounds like a good deal

At $1600.00 that Z51 package is an outright bargain. Thats chump change considering what you are getting. Better suspension components, and I'm not talking just swaybars. I'm talking swaybars, shocks and springs which no one ever mentions, coolers, better braking results, and a better set of tires which are less noisy and ride better, better gearing..........definitely a bargain at $1600.00.

Spoke to the dealer in person. We're close but he won't go to my $6k diff. I'll wait it out and see. There are many C6 MN6 Z51 coupes in my area right now. No A4's that I know of.

I am not at GMS but I can get it through a friend. The local dealer said he will sell at GMS level whether I have it or not. My trade clouds the issue though. I'm going to try to sell through the local paper and go back.

Jeff if you can get GMS on anything take it and run. Leave your car out of the deal and sell it on your own if you want all the money for it. Look up the KBB trade in value and ask for that if you want to trade it.

If it is exactly the car you want do not mess around.
