Farewell '05 Z51
Tough to say goodby, but it had to be done. A great performer, but just too rough on me to use as a daily driver on poorly maintained rural roads...and there will be no more "performance" driving in my future, thanks to two major procedures on my cervical spine.
That's the bad news.
The good news?
Thanks to a VERY understanding bride, the hole in the garage has been filled with an '06 Silver/Titanium A6 F55 3LT coupe! So far (only slightly over 300 miles) it is a pleasant experience. A very smooth ride in "Tour" mode is much easier on the neck (still in a rigid brace 6 months out from last surgery), and very easy to drive even with restricted use of my right arm. The paddle shifters add a little more fun to the experience.
I won't be reporting any quarter-mile times, but I will be sporting a big grin. Even us old crippled dudes still love Vettes! 12 Vettes over 26 years, and STILL loving it. (And loving a wonderful lady as well!)

After owning the Z-51 and now the F55, would you consider (or recommend to others) going to the larger Z-51 sway bars? Thought you would have a good insight after your first-hand experience with both suspension systems.

For different reasons, I have also now owned a C6 with Z51, and now have one with F55. You may have seen some of my posts. I think the F55 suspension is a great option - and is really probably the best for the typical driver. I have no problems with Z51, but I have gained a great respect fot the F55.

Thanks to all for kind words and encouragement. Slow recovery, but I'm not complaining...at least I'm not p____g in my shoes any more, and I'm still driving a Corvette
Indeed it's a Corvette with an automatic transmission that I'll be driving like Grandpa (heck I AM a grandpa)...but I WILL be driving it! And so far, the F55 package seems to fit my needs perfectly.
Don't think I'll be pushing it hard enough to justify Z-51 sway bars, but I think it would be an interesting combination. Some other folks have reported on this, as I recall.
Once this one is well broken in (at least 1000 miles and an oil change), I'll let my best buddy take it out and push it. He also drove the Z-51 pretty hard, so maybe he'll be able to give a good comparison. He's a Corvette fanatic as well, and currently has an '03 Anniversary Edition, as well as a restored '72.
Not going anywhere...I'll still be hanging out here. The forum is always good for hints, tips, and a good laugh on occasion.
Regards!!!
