Power or Manual top for a Small Woman
I am ordering a Vert for my 110lb wife. I don't want the hassle of the power top. How tough is a manual top going to be for my wife to raise and lower.
Thanks,
John

I think height, rather than weight, has more of affect due to the leverage required. The manual top doesn't weigh very much. If you wife is 5'0" it may be a moderatly difficult job. My wife is 5'4" and has no issues. With the top that is.

The manual top operation is a piece of cake. It can be done one-handed. The most physically demanding part of the job is closing the latching handle.... and it's very easy (I do it from outside the car by reaching in).
Go for it.
Go for it.

Melting Slicks
POWER TOP Don't ask your lady to get out of the car to do anything. She can sit at a stoplight and put the top down while being beautiful. If a little shower comes along, then she can put it back up while seaded. She will reward you for thinking of her and not the $$$$.

Safety Car
I have the manual top and it is very easy to reach from outside of the car. As mentioned, it does take quite a grip to latch the top down while seated. I would assume the latch is the same for power and manual tops anyway. You can save $2000 and any possible headaches by going with the manual top. Do a search on the power top issues here on the forum. That may help you decide.

Tops?
I went with the manuel top because i thought the power top was just one more thing to go wrong. the manuel top is so easy to raise and lower i can do it sitting in the car without getting out.takes about 5 seconds

The extra 2K boils down to this...
500 - price of the parts
1500 - price of coolness and love she gives you!!
Who said you can't buy love!

Hey guys,
Looks like the board is roughly split 50/50 on the power top vs. manual top.
I had a manual top in a few cars and never really minded it at all. Then again, the power top is nice and definitely better for women and maybe a bit of an extra slickness factor. I don't care too much about the $2k, but is the power top heavier as well? I imagine it needs to weigh something...but how much?
Thanks,
Dan

I have no meaningful response and probably shouldn't have responded at all, but the title of your thread has kind of a funny meaning to it if you consider it clothing rather than a car roof.

I've had 4 verts without power tops. my c6 has power top. it's a dream and easy to use worth every bit of the $2k it cost.
