Has anyone installed the expensive GM side vent screens yet.

Hard to install ?

How are they secured.

I saw a picture ,they look very nice.

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

We have the GM side vent screens in stock. We have sold a bunch of them but have no pics from those that did the install. The GM screen comes mounted to a plastic bracket that mounts inside the fender area of the opening. Give us a call at 800-234-5284 if interested and I will pull a set and see if we can figure out exactly how hard they are to install.

Someone on the board did install them but never did produce pictures. Best I can tell, they mount towards the front of the car but I think it is in fact sticky tape holding it in around the vent opening.

I have a set on order that should be in tomorrow. They are not installed with double sided tape. I had a set that i paid $60 for and they only held up for 3 weeks before they kept falling off. I prepared the area as directed but i think the heat finally just caused them to break loose.

I was informed that the GM screens snap into place somehow. I guess i'll find out soon. But for the price they better be made to last.

I'll post pics as soon as i get them installed.

That's what happened to me. Heat would get to them and they just wouldn't stick. The reason I say there is tape on the end at the vent is that is what one of the dealers told me when I called about them when they first came out. Have not seen them for my self. Do post some more info when you get them.

Are you talking about the GM screens or some other aftermarket set?

Why do you just make your own side screens, here are the one I made for my C5 out of perforated stainless steel.

Aren't the side vents functional? Why would you want to partially block them off?

Thats what I want but I dont want them to rust after 6 months or come out. How did you cut it & what kind of adhesive technique did you use? Did you remove the tires to install?
Thanks...

First of all stainless steel will not rust and I used the same installation original screen for the C5 which is plastic blocks and diuble sided tape.

I used a bandsaw to cut the stainless steel and I did remove the tire to install them but I can also install them with the tires on but it is a little more difficult.

Hope this helps
