Default East Tennessee Corvette Club picnic gets SURPRISE visitor!

The East Tennessee Corvette Club in Knoxville, TN were having their annual picnic at a park today when what first appeared to be a black C6 drove into the parking lot. When the couple got out, nobody recognized them, so I went up the hill to meet them and invited them to our BBQ buffet. As I approached them, I noticed something a bit different about that C6. Having just returned from the Cruise In, and being a lucky winner of a "ride" in a C6 Z06, I was very surprised to see one arrive at our picnic!

It turns out that Sandra Kolvick, a Facilities Engineer at the Bowling Green Corvette Plant was in town visiting relatives and happened across the ETCC web page and saw our picnic. She was test driving a C6 Z06 for the weekend and decided to come by our event. Sandra's boyfriend, Scott Flanagan of Childress Racing in North Carolina was with her.

We were quite lucky and proud to have had the chance to take a closer look at this new muscle car coming out of Bowling Green. We expressed our appreciation to both Sandra and Scott for taking time out from seeing relatives and from their time off from work to "just drop by".

Thanks for stopping by Sandra and Scott!

Way cool! What are the chances of that happening.

I bet lots of your club members who did not attend the event will be rather bummed out when they here this story and see the pictures.

The ZO6 sure looks more aggressive! I'm curious as to the price?

How the he11 did they get a job that allows them to "borrow" a Z06 for the weekend?

Part of the validation process is to let different engineers use the cars in every day driving situations and make reports on their findings.

Excellent!

A buddy in Ontario had a similar experience last year when Dave Hill showed up at one of their events driving a C6. Apparently he was just driving by and saw all the Vettes so he stopped in for a quick visit.

Wow thats a great story, and shows that it's more than a job to her to stop by and hang out with your club,
BTW she looks like she could still be in high school(her friend to) never mind being a Fac engineer
