Just got back from driving NASCAR @ Pocono Raceway
First I would like to say my wife saw Trump give his contestants on last years apprentice a trip to Pocono Raceway to race Lamborgini's... Let's just say when my wife called the first words out of there mouth after hello was " We don't rent out Lamborgini's " So my wife got me an 8 lap or 20 miles around the 2 1/2 mile Pocono Super Speedway in a 600 HP NASCAR Racecar. I must say I have a new found respect for the driver's of Nascar. I was in the car for 10 minutes & I was sweeting like a crazed dog
First you have a 30 min classroom with video about the car's & the track. Then they take you for 2 lap's in a van to show you the lines of the track. Then you get in the car & get adjusted in the seat, put on the 5 point harness, put on your neck brace & your helmet & your on your way. The first lap is your slow lap to get you used to the track & adjusted to the car. You go through the whole first lap at about 5000 RPM's. the next 7 laps just get faster & faster, the adrenaline you feel going from the top of the straight away & into 1 of the turns on the track you can feel the G-Force as the car hugs the ractrack You have a lead car with an instructor in it with 2 car's behind him, he show's you the line & the speed & you just follow.
It was over quick, but I will definitely be back for more Laps & Pocono raceway.... Oh by the way top speed 7700 RPM's around 160 - 165 MPH

Drive The Monster Mile
I'm an instructor at Dover International Speedway, the worlds fastest 1 mile Super Speedway. You can't explain the actual feel & excitement of the experience! What makes Dover so great is it's over 3,000 feet of corners & just a little over 2,000 feet of straights with 24 degrees banking in the corners. You really have to drive the car. I have around 100,000 laps around there & still find it incredible. We have customers tell us "it was the best day of there life", that's pretty powerful. These are all real Nextel Cup & Busch Series race cars, not imitations. There's a multitude of different programs available with in-car videos also. I've had one of my Corvette's around there a few years ago which was allot of fun, but will not compare to a real Cup Car. Come by & see me at Monster Racing Enterprises from April through October. You have my word you will not regret it!

Open Wheel and Nascar Driving
For my last couple birthdays, my wife has been kind enough to get me some driving time.
I did the Driving 101 thing at Nashville Speedway in a open wheel race car. We got it up to 160 mph. Mario Andretti has since bought that franchise.
Did 1/2 day Buddy Baker NASCAR at Bristol. THIS WAS A BLAST! Going back to Brisltol for a full day of it.
IMHO - the NASCAR run was mucho times better than the open wheel race car.
The Speed is not really that awesome in the open wheel --- Since I ride Harleys and am used to that rush.. Having the wall fly by you and taking those tight turns at Bristol - There is nothing that compares to this on the road, at the strip or a big oval.

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I did the Richard Petty school of driving at the Las Vegas Speedway. I did 8 laps in a 600hp Nascar and it was a great experience.
My first worry was just getting out of the pits without killing the engine, after that it was 8 laps of pleasure.
I am going to try the open wheel one of these years.

Run Your Own Car Instead
While I did Richard Petty in Orlando a few years ago, for the past couple of years I've done track days--including a bunch at Pocono. My current track car is a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V, which I've had up to 145+ on the backstretch at Pocono (after you go through Turn 1 at more than 100 mph). I'm going back there with the V on June 17 since I really think I can top 150.
However, I now also own a C6 coupe and will be bringing it to Pocono on July 17 to run the Long Course. Since I already drove a C6 (not my own) at the Spring Mountain Advanced Driving School, I think I know what to expect--and what I expect is easily over 150 and perhaps 160+ on the backstretch.
Richard Petty and the NASCAR school are fun. But there's nothing like driving your own car. I suggest you look at driving schools like TracQuest, SCDA and, my personal favorate, PDA (www.pdadrivingschool.com). For about $200 a day, you'll get 4-5 20-30 minutes sessions. You'll also get top-notch instructors if you're doing it for the first time.
