Annoying noise from roof driving me nuts!
Has anyone else had this problem? I have had my C6 about three months now with around 3,500 miles and early this week I started hearing an annoying rattling noise from the removable roof panel when I go over any bumps.
When I roll the passenger window down even the littlest bit it stops. $54,000 for a car and it sounds like the roof is going to fall apart after three months. I guess I will have to take it in to the dealership. Just wondering if any other C6ers have had this problem. I will keep you posted on the source of the annoyance once found.

Mine is coming from the drivers side. The plastic and rubber strip connected to the roof that runs along the top of the window creaks when I go over bumps.
I am going to try some silicone lube on it and see if that works.
If not, I have seen it suggested that tightening the roof works.

I haven't had any such noises, but several threads on the subject indicated silicon grease on the weatherstripping and/or the latches solved the problem for some.

Any particular brand for this silicone grease? At speed or on even surface there is that squeak/creak.

The owner's manual lists a weatherstrip conditioner called Dielectric Silicone Grease (GM Part No. U.S. 12345579) on page 6-12. Don't know if that's what others have been using or not.

I also had the annoying rattle from almost the very beginning. Honda has something called Shin-Etsu grease that works wonders. I lubricated all of the seals; both on the top and where the top contacts. Be careful about getting it on your paint. It's tough to get off. Ask me how I know! I'm sure that GMs grease works too. This will quiet the interior more than you would believe.

Here is what you need! Its called GummiPflege and its made by 1Z.. comes in what looks like a gluestick.. just rub it on any weather stripping and/or door seals and the squeeking WILL go away..

A few months ago when MT compared the C6 against the 997S at Willow Springs one of the things they complained was from the rattles in the roof of the C6 Z51.......
So this confirmed that they were right.....

I have the answer. Carbaflo. You can get from BMW dealerships. Eliminated all issues with my bimmer convert. Its expensive though. It is the replacement for gummiphledge. You can put it on anything that squeaks or rattles. It is not silicon based which is a plus.

I have been using it for years on all my cars rubber weatherstrips, never ever had one dry out...

Thanks for the info! What a simple solution. I can't wait to get rid of that noise. I am also excited that I don't have to take my baby to the dealership. I love this forum!
