Default Front license plate holder is on, now what?

I show up for delivery and there it is!

Any ideas on a neat and clean removal?

Also, I am in Ohio where we need a front plate. Do I really?

I think if you do a search, there was discussion on this not long ago. Id try no front tag til I got caught and had to pay the fine. Maybe a friendly Cop would let you off. Check and see what the fine is for no front tag in Ohio.

I think a previous post stated it was just on with 3M tape. Use a hair dryer to loosen the bonds then some GooGone to remove any adhesive residue. Good luck...

Try waxed dental floss between the car and the plate mount. Then you just have to clean up the adhesive.

Yep, dental floss or, if you are like me with no teeth, use fishing line to cut through the tape, then gently pick off excess and then goo gone or rubbing alcohol to remove rest, then polish.

MO requires a front plate, but haven't used one since 01 and haven't even been looked at twice. Course there's always that first time.

I told my dealer "DO NOT PUT ON FRONT PLATE HOLDER". I have the front plate on my C5. In Colorado they enforce the plate rule. I will NOT put a front plate on my C6. Just have to pay the fine.

I'd just about take you up on the offer if I could get key #1 away from my wife. Oh how quickly "why the hell do we need a Corvette?" turned into "you get Key #2!"

All things considered, I'll probably take it off and roll the dice. How about keeping the front plate under the seat, and when Johnny Law pulls me over, "I am on my way to get a new plate holder. Golly your highness, the darn 3M tape breaks loose all of the time. I am on my way to get a new one this minute".

Wishful thinking?

Don't you mean fines. Because from the sounds of it, you will be paying them all the time. The city will love your revenue though.

If you have access to dry ice, super cool it and a good hard whack will take of the plate holder.

Maybe you already got an answer, but mine (NJ) was attached with three "tablets" of adhesive (size of quarters). Applied some mild heat (hairdryer) & s-l-o-w-l-y pulled. Came off but left some adhesive on the bodywork. My wife went to work with olive oil of all things & the adhesive came off with no marring of the finish at all. Don't ask me why, but it worked! Many of the NJ 'Vette owners seem to get by without the front plate, but I guess it's up to what you did to get pulled over. In any case, I have the plate & bracket in the trunk..."just fell off!". Good luck.

I do the same(with front plate attached to bracket stored inside the trunk), haven't been pulled over yet in NJ.

I was talking to the owner of Corvettes of Houston Saturday and told me that a dealer put on the front plate with three screws plus the adhesive, I would have killed the salesman and walk away from the deal. I would think with all the great brains at GM and this forum that someone could come up with a workable solution to this problem.

Drive well and prosper!!

I just pulled the front license plate bracket and the tape ripped in half, leaving glue on both the car and the plate bracket. No dental floss required.

The bracket now lives in the rear compartment with the front plate attached to it. I guess that is what those little 6 pack cubbie holes are for in the back.
