I finally did it!!! '04 TR/MR Z06!!!
This a.m. I got myself one of the last of 3 new '04 torch red/mod red Z06's in all of California (and 1 of about a half dozen or so TR/MR Z06's encompassing all of CA, NV, NM, AZ, WA & TX). Unfortunately, none of the supporting forum dealers throughout the country had one either, and I really wanted to do business with a supporting vendor. So it goes. Anyway, you might say it's been an extensive search! Ironically, I ended up going back to the same local bay area, CA dealer where I got my '99 'vert way back when. Talk about coincidence! They treated me well in the past, and since they both had the car and it was a short flight and a long drive home, I pulled the trigger. I left a very satisfied customer. This has been quite a few months in the making, and the timing of everything was just right. It's a dream come true for me.
I must thank forum supporting dealers Bob Benedix (@ Bill Estes Chevy) and Steve Hummel (Vette Net west coast) for going out of their way to assist me, even though they didn't get any business from me. They were literally just helping me find a car. Talk about first class people--if you need a car, talk to either of these guys!
A hearty thank you to all the forum members who answered my sometimes silly questions on the details of the Z06, such as "is the blind spot as bad as the C5 'vert?" Now I can give a resounding answer to that question: NOPE! The Z06 blindspot is miniscule.
As for the price of the new one, well, lets just say it was too good to pass up! Thanks to the corvette forum for the inside scoop on price, incentives, and its general infinite wisdom, and also a thanks to GM--may your incentives be forever fruitful!
Will certainly post more, but I just got back from driving 568 miles and I'm a bit tired....
I'll post a link to pictures tomorrow after I give it the requisite Zaino treatment. For now, all I can say is WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!!!!!!!!!
First mod: column lock bypass kit. Who makes the best (and easiest) kit? I had the C5 Solutions kit on my '99, the first such kit to come out. That was a good one. Are the new ones still as good?

My first mod was a Thunder Racing CL by-pass. $55 and its plug and play. I didn't even have to stick bare wires into the wiring plug like I had to do back in 01. On the end of the power adaptor is a fitting you plug into the harness, as soon as you stick the adaptor into the cigarette lighter you hear the lock retract. You unplug that and plug in the by-pass. It took me 30 seconds. A very neat clean process.
Of couse all the usual C5 mods can be applied, CAGS, intake, Hurst, VE products, name your cat-back but the Z's Ti system does sound good and even better with LT headers. If I had a do over that's the route I'd take.
The Z is a blast.

Congrats. I went out looking for a MY ZO6, couldn't find one in all of Dallas/Fort Worth. I did end up with a TR with the mod red interior. I wouldn't have bought a TR one if it didn't have the mod red interior. It really sets it off from the complete black interior. Hope you enjoy your ZO6 as much as I am.

TR/MR = COOL!! I would rather have the TR w/ Mod Red than Black w/ Mod Red like I currently have. Enjoy her...........she is SWEEEEEET!

Good on yah. I'm adding the Mod Red stuff to my car in bits and pieces because I think it looks much better as well. Only have the knee bolster and glove box door thus far thanks to Chris at Superior Chevy.
Enjoy the new ride.

Hi Slo -
Congrats!
Plus, she's ready to romp after the drive home (500+ miles!)
Do I see a LS6 sticker on the TB housing or is that a new stock sticker?
best regards -
