If You Haven't Installed Piaa Driving Lights Yet...
If you haven't installed Piaa driving lights on your Z yet, you should as soon as you can. I installed mine over the weekend and the difference is night and day. The stock headlights on the Z stink. IMHO With the Piaa's your visability doubles. I also installed Piaa "Super White" bulbs in place of the stock low and high beams. The difference is well worth the money.

Re: If You Haven't Installed Piaa Driving Lights Yet... (Z06 Tom)
You are absolutely right! The first thing I noticed with my 04 is that the stock headlights really stink. I installed "ultra white" bulbs, but the 55 Watters I got really didn't make that much of a difference.
If you don't mind, a few questions:
Did you install the PIAA driving lights behind the front screens? If so, do they really project that much light through the screens? I've seen that set up before and it just seems that the screens would block a lot of the light.
What Watt bulbs did you install for the low and the high beams? Is your biggest gain coming from the replacement bulbs or from the driving lights?
Thanks.

The screens do not have any effect on the light. Still very bright!!

This is one of my favorite mods to the C5. They look awesome at night through the screens.

These are the bulbs, driving lights and switch. The switch is a OE switch used on coupes and verts with fog lights.
Yes they are mounted behind the screens, and yes they throw out a lot of light.
The replacement bulbs do not make that big a difference but it is an improvement. I replaced one side and then turned them on. The Piaa gives off a mutch whiter cast of light.
The biggest improvement is from the driving lights. Another nice feature is that they come on when you hit the unlock button on your key fob.

How did you wire them in?
Thx

If you decide to go with the Piaa's, don't buy the factory C5 lights to get the brackets. I can hook you up with a guy over on Z06Vette.com who makes a nice metal bracket.

I just installed them yesterday with the brackets from the guy over at Z06vette.com It worked out great, but make sure you get the expanding nuts and the right sized bolts. I ended up going back and forth to Home Depot 3 times, and since the place is 30 minutes away, I spent more time in the car than I did installing the damn things. But they do look great, and work just like factory.

Thx for the instructions,
Can you hook me up with the guy who makes the brackets. I actually though about getting the stock lights from the dealer, this seem like a much better way to go.

Z06 Tom,
I agree with you and other members when they state that the stock Z06 headlights are very poor.
About two weeks ago I installed the PFYC European headlight kit, with the high wattage bulbs. They are simply amazing. The installation took me about 1.5 hours, and with their very complete aiming instructions I had them correctly aimed in another 30 minutes.
They are something to consider for those who want to upgrade beyond even what the new PIAA bulbs will do versus the standard lights.

Bryan (gmblack3) is who I got my brackets from. You could make your own, using the template from the thread, or get in touch with him and he'll hook you up.
Good Luck with your install!

Re: If You Haven't Installed Piaa Driving Lights Yet... (Z06 Tom)
By the way, even you guys with the HID's ought to think about installing driving lights. As I said earlier, they come on with your DRLs when you unlock your car with the fob. Makes it easier to find your car in a dark parking lot. They also can be flashed by pulling back on the turn signal stalk. Good way to return a wave or tell the moron doing 50 in the left lane to get the hell out of the way. And last but not least, they look really sharp.

I disconnected the DRLs!!
Have the HID C5-R lights and they are awesome, just need to get them pointing in the right direction!!
