Being the hood is causing the delay on the Z16, I doubt that you could get one.
Have you considered the motor city hood? (I think thats the name of it) My buddy has one and its very nice and high quality.

not an option
ASP doesn't allow replacing the hood
but it DOES allow updating and backdating parts from other models/years of the car..

Send Ken Fitchner an email and ask him, he is already selling the shocks, why not the rest of the car.

Assuming the carbon fiber hood actually makes it to production as part of Z-16, GM will release it to service parts. Hoods are "crash parts" and a fairly high volume body part. It will be interesting to see what the list price is as a service, part, and it is not likely to be painted eventhough it is only available in production in one color.
It will also be interesting to see what the insurance industry does with rates on Z-16 being as how the price for a replacement hood will probably be on the order of several thousand dollars - likely the most expensive replacement hood in the industry.

carbon fiber parts need not be expensive.
hopefully GM wont artificially jack up the price.

I tried to order the hood today and they are on backorder. I would have to have a 2004 Z16 VIN to get it going. Hood, retail price, is in the 2200 range.

What's the difference from the 01-04 standard hood.
Is it just the carbon fiber?

Judging by looking at the pics at Chevrolet.com and all, I think that's the only difference.

I think the most expensive hood in the industry would be the Viper hood
about $15k from what i have read on the viper sites.......

I would love the DRM heat extracter hood if it came in carbon fiber. It's hard to justify a $1K hood change otherwise. The DRM hood is the best looking hood that I've seen outside of the OE hood.

We would love to add the carbon hood to our 01 Z06 to save a few punds and maybe a little closer to competitive with the 03 & o4's. I looked at the esults this year in SS AutoX and a 01 didn't come close. So we need to update or sale. A hood would help. Does GM read this by chance. I have the 04 shocks. What's next?

Dave Peacey told me that the hood will not be sold without a Z16 vin# and the broken one returned.
The company that has just finished my hood (#4 out of the mold) makes a OEM CF hood. $1500.00 I believe.
The hood pictured below is the one that went on John Shiels car, mine is the first one that is a finished CF so I can choose were to clear coat and were to paint. The vents are staying CF cleared for sure as is the entire underside.

The hood is 1500 in CF and 800+ in glass. Mine is so light you really have to push it down to close it. It is very strong also. I was going to leave some CF exposed but we were in a rush. I am very happy with the hood and it is the must functional performance hood made. I will cut holes in my fenderwells over the winter to vent the high pressure from there. It will take a bunch of high speed lift from the car and make it more stable too. If you remember the LPE car doing 225 the hood looks like it will explode. This hood eliminates that. I have ony been near 150 at the Glen but it felt like a different car. There is a hook up near the windshield on each side which keeps the hood from coming into the cockpit like the stock one so what ever hood you buy look for that. It will draw more air across the motor/radiator too. Very happy with the work APC / Kerry Hitt did on the car. I will be at Limme Rock on the 8th and VIR on the 29th for some more testing :D before the winter sets in. Tom send me some pictures when done, you'll love the hood looks and performance.

in what way is that OEM?
OEM has lost all meaning if that is OEM
