I'm also seeking info on this. What I've heard so far is that the 315/30/18 will fit on the stock rear rim and not rub anywhere, but the tire has a smaller diameter which effectively changes your gear ratio from 3.42 to 3.51. I think that would be a bonus but only if the speedo and odo could be corrected. Can anybody confirm any of this?

I have 325/30/18 and 275/40/17 Pilot sports in the rear. No rubbing and awesome grip and handling when I auto crossed at Castle AFB. :hurray:

Re: What size rear tire can I fit on stock rim with no mods to car? (RMilla17)
I just bought a C5 convertible that the previous owner put 2001 ZO6 rims on. It came with a set of GY F1 RFs with only 4k on them. The only issue is he didn't want to have to mess with the speedo so he put the original size tires on the ZO6 rims. The definately don't fill those rimes though especially the 275/40/18s in the back. I am thinking that I should replace them and want to know the same info, but I want to make sure the C5 and ZO6 wheel wells are the same. Any info out there???

So far I've found Michelin Pilots and BFG g-Force Drag Radials in the 315/30/18 size. Jayson at MTI says the speedo and odo can easily be reprogrammed for the new effective gear ratio (3.51?), and that the MTI Z07 that won the Lap of America recently was wearing them in this 315/30/18 size.

A 295/35-18 tire turns 801 times a mile. A 315/30-18 turns 816 times a mile. This is a 1.8% difference. Also as a tire wears it loses up to a 1/2" of tire height. You will not notice a speedo error difference of less than 5%. Tire compound is more of a factor than size. Don't get too hung up on sizes. To answer your question, most 315 tires have a 11" tread width and most 295 tires have a 10.5" tread width. Most 315/30-18 tires will fit a stock Z06 rear rim without any side effects. Which tire did you want to buy? FYI, I love my 295/35-18 F1 supercar tires. I like the OEM look and performance, ride, and I believe I should be able to get 30,000 miles out of them. GM picked these tires for a reason.
