New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made?
Hi, I'm around the Dallas,TX area and just bought a brand new 2002 Z06 3 weeks ago. So far I love "her". I've Only put 400 miles on "her" so far, but i was wondering is there a place to find out how many 2002 Z06's were made? are does someone know on here how many were made? Also on the first oil change is it alright to wait until 2 to 3 thousand miles? I see alot of guys saying they are changing their oil at around 1000 miles. I'm a picky guy and have a 87GN and i change my oil on it every 2 thousand miles. I plan on using the 5w-30 Mobil 1 and the UPF-44 Delco filter. I always use Mobil 1 oil in my cars. Also anyone on here have that (feels like) wiggle/shake kinda side to side it feels like at idle at redlights. i was told (OF COURSE) at the dearlership, this is normal on Z06's .. Thanks for your answers and this board.. Tony

Welcome and  on your new car.
A member posted all the production numbers a few weeks ago. If I remember, it was around 14K total 01s and 02s
Regarding the "wiggle/shake", it's the cam
Take care and have fun :seeya

WOW thanks for the warm reception, that was nice guys. Reminds me of when i had the 77,the 82 and the 85 there was always that nice feeling of brotherhood. I had forgot it since i haven't owned a Vette since around 1988 and my first day out driving the Z06 I saw that little Corvette wave as i drove past other guys with all sorts of year model Corvette's here in Dallas. A very nice feeling to be back in the group. Thanks for your answers and i'm glad they didn't make that many Z06 as I thought they would have. And thanks for telling me that Cam is responsibly for that wiggle/shake at idle. I was hoping the Dearlership was telling me the truth..LOL.. Anyone on here from around the Dallas/Ft.Worth area that knows the best DealerShip for Service if i should ever need it?? I hope i never need to take "her" in. I purchased mine at Huffines Chevrolet in Plano,TX. if that helps anyone answering that question. Thanks again, I LOVE this new generation Corvette after owning my last in the 80's.
Thanks Tony
Thanks Tony

Welcome and ENJOY!!
I've had my '02 since June, and I love it. Maybe one day we could get all the mesquite, etc vette drivers together to swap stories, etc...
I have heard from another forum member that Young Chevrolet (on I-30) does a great job and that we should talk to 'Steve' to be well taken care of. I haven't gotten mine in there yet, I have a squeak and a whistling throttle body that need addressed, but nothing to complain about after 4.5 months and almost 5K miles...
Hope this helps.

I just raced an 87 GN last weekend in my EB 2002 Z06. A very fast car off the even with terrible traction. It kept up with me until third gear when we both hooked up. After that, I pulled him pretty good. Great car in great shape too. Makes me want to get a 1989 turbo TA.

Thanks for that input, hmmmm So Young Chevrolet.. OKAY. thats the dearlership thats real close since i'm in Mesquite and about 8 miles away. I'll remember that and if you get any feedback after your car gets out let us all know please.
On the Grand National i own, its an 87GN and i have to be different so I had mine painted from black to PURE WHITE, she's a beauty and done professionaly, you would have never known it was ever Black. I have mods TA-49 turbo, 36lb Blue tops injectors, 3 inch Terry Houston Down pipe, 3 inch exhaust NO CAT. 340 Walbro fuel pump hotwired, adjustable fuel pressure and wastegate, Jay Carter 93 Street Chip, front and rear body braces, driveshaft safety loop, OH and i added last year A BeCool Aluminum Radiator that has both coolers, Tony Dequicks CAS V4 Intercooler. And lots more, dynoed at 390 HP, ran 12.5 in the quarter, so i bet she would be a close race with my Z06.. well at least with me shifting the six speed..lol.. I'm too new at this point to be a racer.. I love my GN, but i just had to have another Corvette in my life. Thanks and i'm on webtv or i would post a pic of my 87GN and my Z06. Maybe a friend will do that sometime for me. See ya Tony

Re: New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made? (JWSchmidt3)
NOW JW you were alright with me until you put down my COWBOYS!! LOL...Well that will be your only WIN for sure this year.
Okay so changing the oil at a 1000 miles means what?? Getting it changed in case there is metal shavings? and or crap from break-in? I dont mind spending the money to change it every 1000 miles if i know why? I'm guessing because of it being the so called break-in period?? Okay I'm off to go get my Z06 out of storage and go pick up my plates. Darn I liked crusing with those paper tags. My Dearlership Drew-in a cool BIG Z06 across my paper tags. At least it looked better than any other paper tag i'd had before. Thanks again, i'll change the oil at 1000 miles. What a Beautiful day in Dallas for a Cruise

White Hell, Guessing that yours is white, I'll keep my eye out for you, I'm silver with Texas A&M plates and sticker on the back glass....

Re: New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made? (levettegrl)
Thanks for the welcome WV you live in a pretty part of the country. Also i bet that Black Z06 is very nice. Is it okay to use Zaino Wax on this Torch Red paint? I know and see alot of the guys using it on the Black Grand Nationals, and the Black Vette's. Just was curious. Thanks again and take care. I want the Chrome Wheels and it will be first on my list to change too. Any good places to get them? Thanks Tony

Re: New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made? (White Hell)
Tony, Zaino works just fine on that red paint.....had a coupe and it was beautiful. Corvettes of Houston has great deals on chrome wheels. There is a Corvette show in the early part of the year here in Houston(I'm suer y'all probably have one in Dallas as well and maybe COH has a booth there as well). Anyway, their deals at that show are damn good if you can wait. Not only does COH have great prices, they are a supporting vendor.
John.......Hope to have a ZO6 soon!!!!!!

Re: New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made? (BIG LAW MAN)
Althought I believe the numbers for Z06's are correct, some of the figures on that chart are screwed up. Like looking at how many total corvettes were 6 speeds versus automatics. It says only 8553 were made with the 6 speed and 18917 with the automatic. We know that is incorrect !!!

Re: New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made? (FLYNLO)
THANKS JOHN >> I can wait on the wheels anyday for a great deal!!! I will check out Corvette's of Houston and look for an upcoming show or get together. I hope you get your Z06 soon, they are really sweet. Its been almost 15 years since my last Vette and this one is the very very best. I just love shifting the gears, its my first standard shift in a Corvette. BOY i was missing out when i was buying all those automatics. Never more..LOL.. good luck and let us know what you buy. What color are you getting anyway? see ya Tony

Re: New Z06 Owner/ How many 02 Z06's made? (White Hell)
Tony, just thought I'd give you my experience re oil consumption in my'02 Z06.I've had the car for exactly one year now and it's my daily driver. The
CHANGE OIL interval as indicated by the DIC is 4,000 miles. However, like
clockwork,the engine consumes a quart every 1800 miles.BTW,when the
oil is a quart low,a low oil message is displayed on the DIC.Like my '99 FRC,
this is is one of the most trouble free cars I've owned in 45 years of driving.
The only problem was a passenger door module replaced under the warranty. Both my C5s have seen plenty of track time without any protests.
