2003 Z06 Bad engine
I have a 2003 Z06, yellow with black interior, 9000miles---yes that is right 9K miles--NOT 90K. It runs but the engine is making noise.
Thinking about selling it like it is because I don't have the time to fix it.
Whats it worth?

When you're ready to sell it AND you've decided on an asking price, start a new thread, or add to this thread and ask to have it moved back to C5 Vettes for Sale.

I definately want to sell it but really dont know how to price it. I dont like being the guy who is truely out of his mind and wants more than its worth but I also dont want to give it away. Can I take offers on it in the for sale section?

you can but you need a baseline price.
also, people will assume since you haven't fixed whatever is up with the engine then it's probably going to be something big.
the biggest problem i see are most the buyers of 9k mile cars are old men and many of those old men don't know how to or want to swap an engine.

Post some pictures of it and create an ad for it just like you would if it were running perfect. Without seeing pictures and information on the rest of it's condition, its difficult for anyone to even ascertain a value on it. I would be interested as I am looking for a track car. Just depends on the rest of the car, condition, and where you're at. But there definitely has to be a price advantage for having to put in the work, etc. or else people are better off buying one in pristine condition. Especially considering it's value because putting the engine work on its history will definitely ding the value a bit.

MY is my favorite color. How's the exterior? I'd love to pick up a very clean; like new condition MY Z06 body for cheap. I don't mind doing an engine swap. Heck I'm in the middle of one now on a 100k+ mile z06.

Hard to say without knowing what the engine problems are. If the assumption is will have to pull and replace engine, then that is a 9K job (installed), with a new crate motor.
If the engine is gone with 9K, what is the condition of the rest of the car? Sorry, but something does not sound right. Was this a flood car or something?

No bad history on the car. I purchased the car from a long time friend that purchased it new from Les Stanford Chevrolet. I have the sales papers. I broke the motor myself--a few too many beers. Im not sure what is wrong with the engine but I would consider it a rod bearing--although not sure because I dont have the time to work on it right now. I actually have a 6.0L long block from my friends 5k mile 2005 base corvette that I might put in it if I dont get a reasonable offer.

Seriously, Tow it to a dealer/reputable repair shop and have it looked at... or pull the valve covers and check for broken valve springs.. 2hr job to replace and cheap to do.
if you dont have time and money is not a big problem then having a shop look at it to diagnose it.. atleast then you know what kind of discount to expect....
Valvesprings= 500-800 parts and labor
Rod knock= 4000-5000 parts and labor
Just saying..

Honestly yellow is not my color............... I traded a 738CI fulton drag race engine for the car and got cash my way. I'm a white, blue or black kind of guy--I planned to sell it the minute I got it.

What were you doing to it when it broke?
Is it running lean? What side of the engine is the noise coming from?
Lets hope the #7 cylinder didnt take a dump.
This my car a couple of months back. I had to replace the short block. Went with forged pistons this time. A little over 10K large to complete job.

oh not even, if it's a 9k mile car he'll get 18 even with a blown motor, 20 to the right guy. car would sell for 25-26 without the problems. the existing engine can be parted north of a grand or better and a new ls3 is $6500
