Annoying valve springs
My 01 was built November of 2000. Do my valve springs need to be changed? I always believe in cheap insurance, I seem to read things all over the board.
Thoughts?

the 01s typically don't have a problem like the 02-03 cars do. BUT i have seen one 01 break a spring and it was all stock
a new set of valve springs is 65 dollars and new valve seals 40. personally i would change them simply because it's cheap and valve springs should be changed on a performance car after so many hard runs. there's no real guide on what "so many" is though. guys that race a lot change springs yearly, me, i changed mine when i bought the car. at least then i know i have a new product and they will go awhile. the new gm springs also have an extremely low failure rate, better than what was made back when our cars were sold

Thank you very much. I guess I will do them. But how urgent? I would prefer to wait until winter. It's got 36k miles and a November 2000 build

it's really not a big job, someone that knows what they are doing can finish in about 2 hours, 3 at most
would assume the wait comment was based on thinking it was intensive
part numbers are
12499224 set of 16 GM valve springs
12482063 set of 8 intake valve seals
12482062 set of 8 exhaust valve seals
you will also need spark plug wires as yours will get wasted, an oem replacement style would be the denso 671-8056, or guys use the gm red wires with good results too.
