I've got an '03 Z also, bought new. When posts started coming out about failing valve springs I was already way past the point common to failure. As of this point I now have over 130,000 miles on mine, still the original valve springs with no problems, no noise. If they were going to fail I'm sure it would have happened already. Just sayin'. Do what makes you feel comfortable. I'm still thinking about doing it, maybe.

Congratulations! You're going to love your Z! I've had mine since new and it still brings a smile to my lips every time I drive it.

I wouldn't take the chance personally on a repair that could also double as long term. "Maintenance" - change the plugs & wires while you're at it just to freshen things up. I had the valve springs changed by a professional only because I was also getting it tuned, but even so I think the plugs/wires/springs cost me about $450-$500 labor & parts, not a bad deal.

If you do it yourself requires a special tool you can buy or rent at autozone

Agreed! I'd do (and I did) - transmission, engine oil, coolant, differential, and clutch. Brakes - probably shouldn't need changing if they feel firm and progressive I'd wait until it was time for a full overhaul.

great find. have fun with it.

Do the valve springs. I had an exhaust spring let go after 8 years of ownership. at 39,000 miles. I was lucky, I was sitting at a stop light when it let go. Shut it off.

Had LG motorsports do the springs, it was like 400 bucks. cheap insurance. if you ask me.
