Popping/Crunk noise coming from front end after removing Leaf Bolts
I have a 03 Zo6 thats been lowered as low as you can go on Stock Front Bolts and Longer Rears for the past 2 years w out a noise ever...Put the CCWs on and to get "the look" I wanted tthe front end lower.
So we remove the Front Leaf bolts completely and I now have a front end noise, Sounds like to me its coming from the front right and to anyone riden shot gun seems to come from the front drivers side.....
Noise happens over slow bumps or a change in the pavement going in or out of driveways, railroad tracks, etc, etc....turning doesnt seem to make a difference.
I went back over the front end to make sure everything was tight as it should have been and everythings tight.....
One thought I had was maybe now the leafs are riding dead on the A Arm maybe its maken noise now w out the rubber in there.
Well my buddy removed his front bolts alos on his 2000 C5 and there is no noises and his car has far more miles on it than mine and has had a rougher life for sure.
HELP!!

I've contemplated doing the same thing but could never pull the trigger. I've heard some put a piece of rubber between the spring and the lower A arm and had that work. Im running aftermarket bolts up front and have decided that's as low as it'll get unless I go with coilovers. I dont like the removal idea. Good luck!

I get the exact same noise from time to time. The bolt is removed as well on my car. Noise gets especially loud after driving in the rain. My temporary solution is I spray some WD40 where the leaf spring contacts the control arm. Doing so keeps it quiet for quite awhile.

probly should have left the stock bolts in for proper handling

A few weeks ago I found some 1/8" thick rubber mat.. Cut out two 2"x2" squares and placed one under each leafspring end... No more creaking noise and it softened up the ride a bit without gaining any height.
