The red/black interior seems to be pretty rare, and as far as I know it is available with all exterior colors. I've seen pictures of a Millenium yellow with the red/black interior, and saw a EB with the same that had been converted to a convertible. It looked great!
It seems most of the dealer stock orders just specifiy the base black interior, so the red/black is relatively rare, but it looks great with any color with the possible exception of yellow IMO. It's also a no-cost option.

I have an order in on a silver 2003 Z06 with a red/black interior. I think that interior looks great on a black or silver. Particularly with silver, which I like yet find to be understated, it adds lots of "wow".
If you do a search for "mod red interior" on this section you will find pictures.

Nothing but positive comments!
IMO, I find, and everyone that's seen it has commented that, the all black makes the interior look dull... even <edited for the overly sensitive:rolleyes:> to a degree. Just the right amount of red added to break up all that black.

At Local dealer: 7 02 Z06's. All with black Interior. I spent big$ converting my Black to Mod Red interior.

When I bought my silver/blk used, I had a chance to get one local with the silver/red mod interior for the same money. Needless to say I flew up to Wisconson from Atlanta and drove the car 1000 miles home to have the black interior. If you like it go for it. It's just not for me. :)
BTW I would never call another vette owners interior CHEAP.

I feel pretty close to the Lone Ranger here, but it is not for me either. I just purchased a Quicksilver exterior over black interior 2002 Z06. Although the black interior is a little too quiet for me, the black with red trim is a little too loud for me. A little too much red, maybe. I notice that a lot of 1996 Grand Sports currently for sale have the black with red trim interior. They definitely too much red for me. I was suprised at the amount of people who responded to this post prefer the black with red trim. I wish you well with whatever color combo that you choose. Welcome to the club.

If you check the "other forum's" registry with only 25% of the members having mod/red interiors, I am truely in the minority as far as my preference in mod/red over black.
I will amend my statement...
I don't think that the black only interiors look cheap and never meant it towards the owners or to single them out.
Better?
I think that ALL C5 CORVETTE INTERIORS ARE CHEAP... MOD/RED INCLUDED! :yesnod: :D
IMO, I personally love the layout/design of the interior and think it one of the best... reminds me of the last gen RX-7 interiors (but even Mazda offered wood grain and aluminum bezel trim in there interiors). But the C5 interior is too "plasticky" (I made that up), and the leather is on the CHEAP side (resulting in the updated vinyl side bolsters due to premature wear with the leather).
I hope I cleared things up ;)
