[Z06] Would you guys buy a C5Z that's been raced?

If not flogged at the track for 4+ times per year I wouldn't worry too much. However if the owner was a track dawg and the car had 20+ days on it, I would only buy it if I could get a better price. I had about 25-30 track days on my former Mustang Cobra and can tell you it was still solid when I sold it last year.

I wouldn't buy a "raced" car, but a car that ran hpde sure. Lots of level of hpde driver. In reality I am fairly slow as i just don't care to push the car for the last few seconds of lap time. I am not racing anyone, people that are hard core and run at 10/10ths is also totally different than just running some track days. If the car has been maintained it should be fine with 20-30 track days.
I agree either way you should really do a leakdown on any performance car you are buying used, but this would dictate it as manditory imo. If it is good, and the clutch is good and it shifts ok, and the diff doesn't whine, no reason to fear it.

I'd be a bit wary of a Z06 that was tracked and didn't have at least a larger radiator and an engine oil cooler. But if the proper cooling mods were done, and proper maintenance....it should be just fine.
As long as the oil and water temperatures (and levels and pressures) stayed in their intended operating range, you shouldn't have anything to worry about vs. a street car regarding the motor.

Yes if I was going to either race it myself or do a rebuild/refurbish job & was going to open the engine and fix everything soup to nuts fresh anyhow. No if I was going to use it as a weekend cruiser/hobby car/collector item/long term keeper.

Some brutal answers here. If you cant rebuild the engine blindfolded and behind your back, dont buy it.
Well i cant do that so i guess i should get rid of mine? I didnt do a leakdown test when i bought it at 13k miles. I guess i dont deserve the car. Anyone wanna take my 02 with 18k on it? Im giving it away bc i am not worthy
I dont think theres a good answer to the original question. Every car is different. Some street driven cars are beat harder and in worse condition. Its all in the car. Id say see it in person, unless you have a truly good feeling about it.
