Default Ordered new BFG Rival tires today

The Tirerack wanted $290 plus shipping per tire plus I would have had to pay $30 per tire to have them mounted/balanced. The local Tires Plus special ordered them for me for $295 plus $15 mount/balance per tire. The F1 Supercar tires are nearly 7 years old and it was time for something stickier. BFG sold me on these Rivals from their website and they have them in the OEM 295/35/18 size. I will let you know what I think once they come in and I get them on. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-...l/tire-details

Does the 295 includes all taxes?

what are you doing for the fronts? if any of the 265 40 17 star specs from the 2012 or possibly 2013 production are around those would work

if you put a tire that sticky out back with 7yr old supercars up front you are going to have a car that just doesn't want to turn in. understeer galore

No taxes are not included in that quote.

The fronts were replaced two years ago with OEM size Falken 452s. When I go to the track I will throw on my extra set of wheels with slicks.

Nice! I like the Sport Cup's track numbers, but I've read too much about the scary tendencies of the first-gen PSC before they're heated up to want them on my street car...

I plan to go with Super Sports when these BFGs wear out... I'm hoping to mini tub for 325-345s when I do it, too

Here they are installed. Was 39 degrees when I drove it home on them. Soooo much of a difference. They actually were picking up small gravel when driving out of the parking lot of the tire shop. I have never seen a 200 compound tire do that before!

it's all about tire compound heat range. tires that perform at 250deg on a blistering track will be rocks day to day driving at 60deg

just like snow tires grip in freezing weather but get greasy just driving down the road in summer

the pss is ideal 50-150 and even works as low as the 40s before grip really falls off. guys have also said they get greasy and chunk with high track road race temps. not surprising. they are optimized for the street

and OP those rivals look great on your OEM wheels.

Thanks. They aren't the meanest looking wheel from the side profile, but the tread pattern is great and they seem to hook well. The F1 Supercars looked mean but sucked for grip, at least when 6+ years old...

Guys I was able to get the car out in low 60 degree temps this past Saturday. I cannot say enough about the BFG Rival. They look great and grip great. I've never seen a 200 compound tire grip like these do. Every review I have read has these beating the crap out of Toyo R888 & RA1s on the track. They say the wear is really good too. They don't currently make a OEM size for the fronts, but I highly recommend them for the rear OEM size if you are looking to stay in a 295/35/18!

They are compounded to give pretty good grip at street temps, although they don't seem totally happy at the track. Not much tread either.

Going to push like crazy with those crap front tires!

I will be buying a set of tires in the next couple months. Right now I'm leaning toward the Potenza S04s (due to the Rivals' tread depth of 7/32s), but these were high on my list as well.
Please keep us posted on the tread wear.

I have a pair of OEM 18" with slicks to put on the front for the track. No push...if anything it will get loose.
