Love this build.. something about na attracts me more then fi. My old Integra ( flame suit on) made 146 HP/liter. 225 wheel HP reved to 8800 rpms. Still a 1.8L b series. Every little detail adds up on a good na build. Don't skip on good pushrods, Manton or similar pushrods and roller rockers help on a high rev/hp effort.

There's several Honda builders on here MX621...I've done 5 big builds for myself, but built probably 60 or more over 8 years. I did all custom forced induction systems, dyno tuning, installs, ecu chipping, anodizing and powdercoating, custom composites (even did some hoods)...you name it. I also coordinated and founded an annual honda meet locally that brought in cars from 5+ states...the vids are on Vimeo as "Mid Atlantic Honda Mega Meet" in Pittsburgh.

Nice Build!
Sounds similar to our build. Its a NA 444ci Ls2 with Ls7 heads, big cam, 12.5:1 CR ect. We just rebuilt it with more upgrades. But before the rebuild it put down 570rwhp. We are hoping to crack into the 610-620rwhp range with the new build.

Our Christmas Sale is going on!

Pretty cool to see. The na Honda game is no joke. If the Honda crowd wasn't so bad I may still have one. Jeff Evans tuned my old car, loved that thing on a 4.77 final R trans.

Yeah, Jeff ended up tuning my cousins car when my dyno was down for two months on some software issues. Jeff was the only person I felt I could refer him to I trusted. The car made 890whp/634wtq (IIRC) on a sleeved 2.0 and BorgWarner S376 at 34 psi. We actuated the wastegates with C02 and a modulated solenoid and we had a small problem so we didn't end up running 40psi like intended, otherwise I think the build could've done 960whp+.

I street tuned the part throttle when he returned and he drove the car a good bit on the street...but now it sits in his garage collecting dust for like 4 yrs now. He wanted to make over 1000whp, so I pulled the head/intake mani (we made 890whp on a essentially stock ports, I just unshrouded the valves a bit/worked the bowls to remove the machining/casting interface), but he lost interest in off season and never regained interest.

Now I build other cars and he plays with diesel trucks...mehh...

Alright! Yep, we're right in step here. My block too is a resleeved LS2. Also, it's running your fan controller (be cool), which will only be more necessary than before! Even with the Dewitt's no. Spal setup, the be cool will be needed frequently here in Texas!

Yep, I hope we can get to 100 per liter. With these cubes, that is serious power NA. You're right, Hondas have always excelled at hp per liter, which is amazing since they are also extremely reliable. Amazing motors no doubt!

I had a 554whp LS7 in a GTM (2650lbs) and it was absolutely wicked. At 4.78lbs/whp, a 620whp in a C5Z chassis is quite close. The acceleration and power onset was brutal on the street...that's going to be a fun machine. MY Z makes 581whp/512wtq supercharged and with BB's, no cats, AR headers it scares women and makes children cry...to do that NA...that's gonna be wicked.

Awesome! We have a Ron Davis radiator with stock fans and 180 therm, runs 180-185* normally and on a 100+* day it stays about 195-205* in traffic with the CoolIt turned on. BTW, the fan controller is called a "CoolIt."

Lol! Great line! I sure hope it's not too ridiculous for the street, regardless, I'm looking forward to it!

That's right, the "cool it". BTW, your directions were exceptional for the install!

Hi RC000E,

Our C5Z runs Kooks 1-7/8 LT and 3" HiFlo catted pipes back to stock C5Z mufflers to keep it quite around town so the popo won't hear it when we are messing around. Even though those stock Ti mufflers are quite, they sound awesome with that kind of power going through them. And they are light weight. Electric cutouts are in the near future so I can release the Cracken!

Glad to hear on the factory TI. I'm switching back to them, knowing that my Mid America cat back was already loud enough at idle to cause neighbors to comment. I'm looking forward to the TI to be back in place.

Yeah...I had several variations...but in the end I decided to just let that baby breathe full time...

I've only been pulled over like 12 times in the past year so...not too bad...

I fail to understand the reluctance of so many people to accept FI. I've got a stock block LS6 that makes almost 650RWHP, and has been perfectly reliable for 3 years. Cubic inches cost more money (in most cases), and yield lower results. If I were a rich person, I'd still go FI, just using a forged motor, and more boost.

I can't speak for all, but I can speak for my decision, and it was simple. I have a good friend in my Vette group that had absolute heck with his FI build. He had his stock bottom end blown up on the dyno, and then had his new all forged bottom end take another 6 months to get completely sorted out. So, was his cost less than this build? No. Was his down time less? No again. There's no doubt FI ultimately will produce more power, but it's adds weight, is tougher to tune, needs a bunch of fuel system built to work properly, is not designed to road race at all (short of the ZR1), and is a ticking time bomb on a stock bottom end LS1/6.

These are the reasons I didn't go FI. With a big cube build, I'm lighter, easier to tune, and able to do any type of racing event I'd like without many issues.

I don't knock anyone who goes FI, I too think its great (both my DD and my wife's DD are Turbo cars) but I didn't want the hassles it can present when our cars weren't intended for it up front.

That is true Maxx... However, it's 2014 that I will be broke!

I like FI, its just that when I bought my C5Z it had this engine in it.
It just needed to be re ringed because it was set up for big NOS with big ring gaps. I did like the smoking and burning oil. Ended up changing cam, installed Lunati High RPM lifters, upgraded to all ARP , Melling HV oil pump, C5r chain and gears, CNC ported ls7 heads with bronze guides and Ferrea Stainless exhaust valves, because of the issue with the ls7 hollow valves dropping. And the list goes on. If I would have went FI it would have been way over budget changing pistons and getting all the Turbo components.
Anyway as 427ZM said, the NA engine make good all around power for drags and road race. And the big cam and cubes sound so good!
