UPF44 oil filter
I've been using UPF44 oil filters on my Z06 for years. The last few filters, the base is rusty out of the box. What filter do you use ?

Currently, Purolator PureOne PL14006 ... and no, it's not restrictive.
Have used WIX, NAPA Gold, Amsoil in the past. The Fram Ultra (full synthetic) looks nice. All are good filters and endorsed by BITOG guys.

K&n is the only filter I use in the z, Its a very well built filter and that 1" nut is well worth a few bucks more imo. It's so nice to never have to mess around with trying to remove a stuck filter. Use them in our two other dd's too since I use the M1 15k mile oil in them. Change them between 12-15k so I want the best filter if its going to be on that long.

I have always used and will continue to use the UPF-44 filters. Never had a rust problem on mine and order then by the 6 pack case. I would question where and how the filters you are getting have been stored. Those filters came in contact with a lot of moisture somewhere.

I use WIX on all my cars. I stay with standard filters since the ones with finer filtration also are more restrictive and cause more pressure drop.

I've used 4 or 5 different brand oil filters on my Z06 and they all give me the same oil pressure at the same oil temperature and engine RPM when using Mobil 1 5W-30.

I always use NAPA Gold, they are Wix racing filters made for Napa. I used a K&N once. It had scrape marks on the nut. My car is lowered so never again on that filter. It actually was lower than my headers.

If you're seeing pump relief at 3000 RPM, then you're running thicker oil and/or have a high volume output pump (ie, not stock).

0w-40 is definitely thicker at 200+ F than 5w-30, so that's why you see pump relief pressure at lower RPM.
Forgot to say, a more "restrictive" oil filter will however cause the oil pump to go into pressure relief mode sooner. So if you are seeing max oil pressure at 3000 RPM, it could be a combo of the thicker oil and a more restrictive oil filter. You wouldn't know for sure unless you ran many filters with the same weight oil at the same temperature to give the same baseline viscosity parameter.
